WTF do they do with this money?!?!?!??!!!!!

Honestly all that money and you build a shitty tower like this? They could have built something great. But I guess money always comes over art.

No expense was spared on this building. Whether you find it architecturally pleasing or not is your prerogative, however it's quite a magnificent building that was constructed to fulfill specific and custom needs of this company.

This is a somewhat educated guess, but people kind of hate this company, so I believe they wanted a building that didn't stick out too much. Think of it like the men in mob movies. If they get too flashy with purchases after a heist, Deniro will cuss their a$$ out.

As someone mentioned, I'm sure no expense was spared on the interiors.

I think this building works great in it's location between the WFC and WTC.

Yes they do and they are very bright...makes the building look awkward compared to its neighbors.

I love biking along the Hudson River. The park extension has been a great success.

Goldman's fortunes are rapidly increasing. I'd like to see GS build another new tower in addition to their latest one.

Hopefully, MS will build its new one soon too.

Goldman is waaaaay ahead of you on that, but it will likely be across the River in JC if this news from 2015 is any indication.

95-Story Supertall Planned for Jersey City Waterfront at 55 Hudson Street

Quote:
In a previous interview with YIMBY, Jersey City’s Mayor Steven Fulop told us that “Goldman Sachs came in regarding a new tower next to their existing building on the waterfront, and we’re just starting to talk about that.”

And now it seems those plans may soon begin to cycle through the public review process, as the city’s planning documents have been updated with the scoping for 55 Hudson Street.

While few design or usage specifics are yet available, the project will span 920,000 square feet, and planning documents specify commercial/office intent.

They’ve definitely scrapped those plans. In recent years they’ve started a major cost cutting push and are expanding their presence in cheaper cities for back office functions.

Their headcount in the NYC area is unlikely to grow enough to justify another tower anytime soon. They never even filled up their existing tower in Jersey City.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up selling the 55 Hudson street lot because that area is a hot spot for residential development.
