I presume that the blue building is World Trade Tower. I like it a great deal. My second favorite would be the black and gray tower with the X-pattern framework. Your city is looking good.

JHoward88: yes, thats the blue building is the world trade tower, and the black building with grey cross bracing is also my second favorite, and thats the only reason it made it into Howich 1.5!

i also made the building that is U/C look alot more detailed.

You're getting better and better. I think there's just about the right amount of uniqueness in your buildings to make them look interesting, yet still believable. I especially like that green apartment building. The one with the twin towers and balconies at the corners. One thing you might want to fix are the textures on the tapering orange and blue building. The floors are not aligned.

Your city is always getting nicer, and nicer. Though I think you should delete the television tower with the red, orange, black and blue building.

Nice!

It looks like the textures on all sides are the same scale, but they're just not aligned (when you look at adjacent sides, the rows of windows are at different height). You need to move the texture so that the rows of windows for each floor are at the same height (select the face, right-click and from the context menu Texture -> Position and the move the texture to the correct position).

they are the same scale, but because the one side is on an angle, it actually takes a taller texture to make the equivelant of one floor, than my standard hieght of 4m, it would probably be something like 4.31m instead.

anyways, heres a shot to show what blocks are built so far. (i'm in the middle of working on it right now, so one block is half finished)

UPDATE:

another construction site:

this building was built in 2011 and was a throwback to brutalism. it is called the Renaissance Towers.

this building was completed in 1982 and is called the IBC (international business computers) center

^^^ I've spent lots of time pondering architecture in terms of what it is that makes buildings seem interesting, and - furthermore - what it is that makes cities have their visual appeal and distinction.

When we're going down the road, or even walking around town, most of the fine details of a building are missed. The eye doesn't see as much as we imagine it does, and the memory doesn't retain as much as we presume. Thus, only the most basic architectural forms are retained in our memory.

The trick, and hard part with a city, is figuring out how to re-use them over and over again without appearing repetitive or redundant. Minimalism in achitectural design is important, I think.

Anyway, I always keep my eyes open for interesting fundamental shapes and patterns in architecture which appear in everything from big buildings downtown to the facades of shopping malls. Without a doubt, I highly advise any hobby city designer to seek inspiration by wandering around the city. It is amazing the things you notice when you take the time to proactively observe them.

Anyhoo... Good work, flamesrule. Enjoy your two week design break, and without a doubt, we'll be happy to see Howich City's future progress. Your work continues to improve, and in the wake of Sta Fee's completion, this is my favorite currently active project.
