You have to talk to somebody who is actually Cajun.

Met one once. Sexiest accent I've ever heard! But Baton Rouge was Batten Ruje. I doubt that anyone local has pronounced it in a way that sounds French in 150 years.

You really don't want to stop in Lexington Kentucky and ask for directions to Versailles then lol.

"Reet-mins" is what I hear around here, including a friend who worked there for many years (doesn't mean it's correct or anything, just how people say it here). I think "right-mans" is probably the closest to correct, but have never heard it said that way in BC at least

I own a small espresso based cafe in London, there are quite a few in the city now (15 or so) and I would expect that number to keep rising once we are past covid19. I would expect the trend to continue everywhere in Canada as Tim Hortons has lost its luster and Starbucks isn’t much better.

Was that the coffee place that got hit by that asshole stunt driver about a year ago? I love these independent coffee shops. London needs more of them and way, way, way less Rim Whoreton's.

Yes, his is the place. I've been thinking about him and his shop. I think he finally got back up and running shortly before the pandemic hit.

I don't claim any mastery over saying it the 'right way' but that looks about right to me

It's almost like 2 1/2 syllables lol. The LU and the uh really run together. More than just one syllable but not 2 distinct.

Versailles is Ver-sales.

L Brands is closing 301 Stores, and as part of that, 13 Victoria's Secret and 1 Bath and Body Works stores in Canada are closing. No idea on locations yet.

Are these new closures, or are these the closures they announced at the beginning of the year.......

I think that it's a couple of stores in addition to those already announced.

An article I found from February indicates they had 38 stores, had already closed 8 and were planning to close 2 more this year, leaving 28. So I guess this announcement is including those already closed and planned to close and adding 3 more to that. I know they closed 1 in London early in the year, and it was a hard close (open yesterday, surprise closed today type of thing, no notice).

Thanks - a report on CTV indicates they plan to go down to 25 stores in Canada, so that would tend to imply only three additional store closures are planned.

The VS in Moncton must be getting pretty close to the chopping block given that it is only a mid sized city, but purportedly it is supposed to be one of the best performing locations in the country.
