awesome, the second row looks done.. and yeah that stone def. hasn't been cleaned.. eager to see it once it's all up and cleaned and possibly stained to look more uniform

those pediments remind me of Lowes so much lol...

also I am hoping they add some sort of colour to the stone facade.. maybe in the pediment.. cuz it's a lot of pure stone colour..

hmm looks like they actually HAVE cleaned out at least the majority of grime off the stone before putting it back up.. just not the deep stains I suppose.. just compared what they are putting back up with a close up of the facade before it was taken down..

A am also surprised they didn't remove the blue/green buildup on the lister block panels...

Those blue green panels are copper, and are supposed to be that colour. They will only get more green in time.

This is going to look really good when the glass is in, and the street level facade and windows are done too. I'm sure there will be details to nit-pick, but I think the overall building appearance will be impressive, and something we haven't seen at that address since... what... pre-1970? (when did that metal cladding go up?)

I've been getting a pretty good view of it all year. Does anybody know exact completion date?

green is oxidation, which is actually corrosion on the surface, and is completely removable.

Yes and they’re supposed to turn green. For example the parliament buildings in Ottawa, they’re roofs are made of copper and were originally brown. Don’t see them removing it

Actually they just removed the green roof on the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King near the highway in hamilton and replaced it.

They are not SUPPOSED to turn green, they just DO turn green.. and that oxidation drips off when it rains and stains everything under it. It's corrosion and eventually compromises the copper itself.

Nah dude, many people love green copper. Look at the old board of ed building, even the new Mac downtown building uses aged copper panels.

Makes sense. How about availability? When do the units become available to move into? I really like the idea of having a building just for students.

It's really not an issue for a long, long time. The patina is protective.

So let us compare the pre-restoration with the current restoration:

it's really hard to tell, but it looks like they may have done the second level pediment in the center properly.. that or they just flat filled it in. Also it's funny, the dirt on the pediments on the right actually makes them appear BIGGER, I had to squint to see the upper lip of the curved pediments on the new pieces hehe..

also they are building the third layer in RECORD time.. probably trying to get it in before the snow..

I am also very curious as to what kind of cornice they are going to be applying - I hope it's somewhat ornate with colour like the one on the corner of king william and hughson st, or that it matches the building to the left of it, or heck even matches what USED to be there..

also the stone lintels on the building to the left could do with the same treatment the mulberry got, really brightens up the overall look.
