You may doubt it, but there is plenty of evidence that animals are self-aware.

To some degree perhaps, though I doubt a cow, a pig or a chicken has the ability to conceptualize everything happens in a butcher shop, the transportation and retail food system, and the cooking preparation that happens in our homes. I don't disagree. It may seem contradictory but I do support the ethical and humane treatment of animals while being at the same time quite convinced of our position at the top of the animal realm (since we're animals too, of course).

Foie gras ain't such a luxury dish either anyway. Over here, you get some for something like €50 or less a kilogram on holidays. Mostly by the time of Christmas / New Years eves and Easter.

But I boycott it, because it is unworthy of us. Besides, it only tastes like some sort of butter made of animal fat, that's nothing extraordinary.

I don't eat much meat anymore. Once you master the science of spices, veggies, fruits and starchy foods (pasta, rice, potatoes, peas, lentils...) can be delicious, then you no longer need so much meat.

For all the "NO KETCHUP" nonsense that some Chicagoans like to espouse, I never really see anyone actually get a Chicago dog (exception is at baseball games). Sausage, Italian beef, and pizza make up the Chicago comfort food trifecta. I feel like the Chicago dog is even more touristy than Unos.

Marian Ilitch. And possible Martha Firestone Ford.

Regarding Matty Moroun, I'm not sure how his estate was split now that he's dead. His wife and son survived him, and if they split it down the middle neither would be billionaires per the Forbes estimate.
