You may doubt it, but there is plenty of evidence that animals are self-aware.

I'm not a vegetarian, btw. Just acknowledging that humans have a tendency to rationalize away how human behavior may affect other living beings, including other human beings. Enjoy the burger.

To some degree perhaps, though I doubt a cow, a pig or a chicken has the ability to conceptualize everything happens in a butcher shop, the transportation and retail food system, and the cooking preparation that happens in our homes. Perhaps if they were eaten alive by a lion things might be different.

I don't disagree. It may seem contradictory but I do support the ethical and humane treatment of animals while being at the same time quite convinced of our position at the top of the animal realm (since we're animals too, of course).

I am actually having salmon with a pesto, maple syrup and cream sauce this evening. I admit to having no idea how the salmon was treated, though.

Foie gras ain't such a luxury dish either anyway. Over here, you get some for something like €50 or less a kilogram on holidays. Mostly by the time of Christmas / New Years eves and Easter.

But I boycott it, because it is unworthy of us. Besides, it only tastes like some sort of butter made of animal fat, that's nothing extraordinary.

I don't eat much meat anymore. Once you master the science of spices, veggies, fruits and starchy foods (pasta, rice, potatoes, peas, lentils...) can be delicious, then you no longer need so much meat.

The Japanese hot dog in the poster/image looks incredible, if nothing else because I love that Japanese culture has such a profound adulation of cute, adorable, lovable anthropomorphic things, especially with food.

After yesterday's news of Musk (a Los Angeles resident) overtaking Gates for the #2 spot (he's since fallen back to #3), I became a little more interested in this.

NYC CSA actually has 137:

Greater NY area (116)
Greater White Plains area (2) --> Westchester and Rockland County
Greater Poughkeepsie area (2) --> Dutchess and Sullivan County
Princeton, NJ (1) --> Mercer County
Greater Greenwich area (15)
Greater Branford area (1) --> New Haven County

You're welcome, NYC boosters.

Also, South Florida has 38, not 40. Amazing how all but one live in Palm Beach County. You would think Miami Beach would be home to a number of billionaires.

Thanks for catching that.

Hobe Sound is in Martin County, which is part of the Miami CSA, and there are 2 billionaires there.

Greater Palm Beach Area, FL 37
Hobe Sound, FL 2
Plantation, FL 1

For all the "NO KETCHUP" nonsense that some Chicagoans like to espouse, I never really see anyone actually get a Chicago dog (exception is at baseball games). Sausage, Italian beef, and pizza make up the Chicago comfort food trifecta. I feel like the Chicago dog is even more touristy than Unos.

I never really thought of LA as a hot dog consuming city.

I can think of 3 off the top of my head in Miami-Dade: Jorge Perez, Mickey Arison and Phillip Frost. I am sure there are more.

Dodger dogs, the almost ubiquitous hot dog carts, and of course this:

Secret LA

Pink's even has a wall of fame; I think even Barbra Streisand has had a Pink's hot dog haha

The bacon-wrapped hot dog that immigrants sell on street corners is the most underrated hot dog. No one talks about it, but everyone likes it. It just doesn't have the cultural pedigree and cool factor of tacos and burgers.

Marian Ilitch. And possible Martha Firestone Ford.

Regarding Matty Moroun, I'm not sure how his estate was split now that he's dead. His wife and son survived him, and if they split it down the middle neither would be billionaires per the Forbes estimate.
