Five Guy's is one of the chains I miss from my time in Calgary. I'll be there sometime this weekend for sure. Passing by on Argyle the space looks great. Now to somehow get an Earl's ...

I noticed signage went up today for the IDEA HALIFAX store at 1489 Hollis Street (Brewery Market complex).

The IDEA thing looks pretty... satirical (check out some of the product names and descriptions ). Is it actually a spin-off of IKEA or a sort of parody company?

Looks like it's a marketing thing. Most of the links on that site all redirect to local advertising company Trampoline. I guess this is their way of announcing they are moving offices?

I've got to wonder how many people are going to fall for this. It's effective marketing thats for sure though. When I saw the signage I did think it was probably IKEA's pick-up store or maybe a showroom for urban living ideas.

Looks like it's opening in The Curve. Walked by this evening and there was a sign up for it.

L.L.Bean is expanding to Halifax after opening several stores in Ontario.

https://www.retail-insider.com/retai...NxwPrzaE7xPPyQ

Quote:
Kastner said the company plan is to have up 20 stores across the country. Next year, it is looking at opening in the Maritimes because there’s a very strong L.L. Bean customer in that region due to the proximity to the corporate base in Freeport, Maine.

“Right now, we’re looking at opportunities in the Halifax area. So we will open one next year and then after that we’ll start to look at other opportunities. We’ll start to move West. We’re going to continue the growth. It’s going to be calculated. Location has to be right. The centre has to be right. And the demographic has to be right. We’re still targeting 20 stores,” said Kastner.

I was wondering how long this would take to happen, good news! I’m personally a bigger fan of BYD, I’ve only had the chance to ride the e6 but the Han looks sublime. Since they opened a bus plant in Newmarket ON, I wonder if Halifax will get Canadian-made BYD buses.

Back on the subject of Tesla, since they use the showroom sales model I’m curious to see if their dealership will still be in the car parks or somewhere more chic.

Personally - I am conflicted, and in a super hypocritical way, due to the fact that I honestly do have an issue with their employee ethics. I wouldn't work for them or suggest anyone I know work there, but I do shop on Amazon when I can't find it anywhere else. It's a weird world.

You know a company is doing well when you don't like dealing with them but you do anyway! It was a matter of time for this warehouse to be built.
