Pemberton can apply but I don't think they'll be granted more than a trivial amount of height over what was approved already. They may, however, be given additional density.

Was just a lame joke to play to the ssp spandrel theme song. Interesting you think more density is possible.

It didn't seem presented as a joke...

I guess the spandrel part might've, but it also just sounds rather unsurprising.

It's a massive site, so whatever goes there will be very impactful.

The city changed their application website making it hard to find older approved items; but I think the Cresford 33 Yorkville application was made in 2016. I also recall nearby sites, which applied later, have receiving higher FARs. Shadows on the parks seem to be the main concern of planners for that neighbourhood due to large amounts of nearby transit.

No information is usually preferable to wrong information. Most people aren't going to ponder whether there was a joke in there somewhere.

Ok, thanks Dad. I guess I can now see how "an even taller tower than approved, subject to an increase in spandrel exterior cladding of approximately 73%" might be perceived as a legit application amendment.

That's good as it caused unnecessary confusion and nonsense on another site in addition to this one. People were asking what the new height is going to be and there were negative comments about more spandrel. Someone over there straightened it out so that it was clear that you weren't in the development industry with inside information or that some exterior glazing requirement existed. People do actually come on these sites looking for real information so making sure they remain reliable sources of information matters.

I clued in after re-reading it 2-3 times that it was probably inaccurate information but someone who doesn't follow this stuff won't.

Good policing - be sure to send me a PM or post a link about all these confused people on the other site. Was going to apologize but found nothing... (maybe you exaggerate a bit).

As you mentioned, I may not know much, but I’m not a fan of real know-it-alls like your uninformed correction to my 75 The Esplanade post (on that other site): isaidso: “one small correction: this isn't real brick it's fake brick. These are panels with a thin veneer attached to the front that is meant to mimic brick.”

A photo posted on that thread showed the first row of layed brick and a brick-layer (holding a brick) on the scaffolding. FYI pre-cast brick veneer isn’t totally “fake” or “mimicing” - veneers are decorative but are made from the same materials/same processes as other brick. Maybe your search engine factoids don't always portray the smarter than everybody result you hope to achieve.

I like it playing the MOAR height enthusiasm. Pemberton was started because the dude was bored running the largest drywall contracting company in the country. His creativity extends to naming his new residential development company after the street he first built on. To bring this to a close, Spandrel means more drywall needed.
