It seems like the AULCC issue would - maybe they just aren't ready to add the plans yet? But it doesn't seem like not adding plans and info to the site plan application would be an open records violation. All Tesla did was claim copyright infringement on stuff normally added to the site plan application.

I've definitely scoured the city's website and saved the elevations for my personal collection and interest in the subject, but I've never uploaded the elevations to any website or even posted ones that had been uploaded by someone else. I've always only posted a link to the city's website giving directions to someone on how to find them. I would discourage people from posting them on the forum. I feel like renderings are a bit different as they're for marketing and advertising purposes, so if anything, we're doing them a favor there. Elevations are a bit different. Generally, I take cues from the mainstream media on what's ok and what isn't concerning including elevations in their articles...or a post I might make. Renderings show up in articles all the time, but elevations are far rarer in them. I try to respectful while also being a total nerd about them.

The City has now removed all drawings & elevations from all previous AULCC meetings.

New meeting info was added to AULCC yesterday. If the City was still posting drawings, we might have some "SSP breaking news" about a new tower proposal. But this is what we have now.

It's a half block project on San Jacinto between 8th & 9th Street. Notice the two year construction time frame. That would imply a large project, and the site is not in a CVC.

Here's the site on Streetview. It's an ugly parking garage and equally ugly offices.

Has there been any development regarding the Austin Statesman campus just south of the river? I remember last year someone posted several exciting concept images, including a pedestrian bridge over the river, and several notable highrises. But I can't find a thread for it.

Nice find, ATX. I feel like that area south of the capitol is full of older mid rise buildings (and parking structures) that will become more and more attractive as everything in the CBD proper gets locked up or developed.

That office building is beautiful. Take out the parking underneath and add some retail spaces with a glass facade and build a skinny hotel where the parking garage currently is. IMHO. That being said, any tower at all is a massive upgrade.

Not a fan of the drive through bank, but it is a funky little building with texture.

This is moving forward.

A large tree on site was moved to Woolridge Square.

I'm always amazed at that process. Better to leave them in place when possible, of course, but the fact that they can be moved to thrive elsewhere is fascinating to me.

Agreed - there's a lot of neat modernist/brutalist mid-rises in that part of town. Although they're all pretty awful with street interaction, either with big parking lots or parking garages underneath.

I'd love to have some art deco in Austin. Put some god damn gargoyles on our skyscrapers!

Gargoyles would be Gothic architecture. But yeah, I would like to see a renaissance of both Art Deco and Gothic architecture.

I’m guessing he’s thinking of the eagles on the Chrysler building? Which yes are half gargoyles, half hood ornaments.

Both styles blend together a little bit.

I'm just tired of boring glass facades, that's all. Glass has its place but it's way overused in modern architecture IMO.

The Norwood Tower is my favorite tower in Austin. And it serves as a good representation of Art deco. People are always stumped when they ask me what my favorite tower in Austin is. They don't expect to hear about this one. It's a beautiful building.

Or is it Gothic architecture? I confuse the two sometimes.
