The One (309m - 85s)

The annex building beside the tower (which hosts elevators up to the residential lobby above the Apple Store, and down to parking levels), is getting its big concrete pour.

Benito

Not an early April Fool’s joke: some bizarre news today regarding adding 9 more floors to the super-tall. No-one knows if the additional floors would be stuffed into the existing building envelope,
or if this means a substantial growth in height (to 94 storeys).

That would be taller than the Mirvsh Henry towers which are proposed at 329 meters..

Hope this gets approved

If it is approved and assuming a similar to current floor-height spacing, that would put the revised height at around 335 meters. Thank god for the slight design update, it's almost symmetrical now. Is symmetrical the right word? Hmmm.

Now we need some taller office tower projects.

Toronto needs to bulk up the skyline

The One - 338.3m - 94s - Mizrahi Developments - Foster + Partners - u/c

Approved @ 309m + new application for 9 additional storeys.

Benito

Side by side renders - approved/under-construction and proposed/new application. The super-tall was engineered for more height than the approved 85 storeys.

I think it was on this forum that i read the height was reduced from the original concept due to a school complaining of the shadow.
Now that kids arent allowed to go to school anymore no reason this should not be approved

LOL, they have created a new shadowing impact study that shows since the original time of this proposal many other tall towers have gone up or have been approved that actually create their own shadows that minimizes the impact of any addition height added to The One.

CIBC SQUARE 1 - 238m - 49s - Hines - WilkinsonEyre - u/c

First appearance of part of the crown lighting (with diamond highlights). Pretty sure this can be seen from outer space (maybe just a test @ 100%).

It really is.

I remember when the then-ACC was built and they put up that underwhelming little stub of an office building as part of it (it's barely visible in the photo), I wondered if the age of the skyscraper was over.

Astounding what has happened in the 20-odd years since.

T.O.

Some great shots by Richard Johnson of the CIBC Square 1 lighting test. I pretty sure the LEDs are programmable and look forward to future tests, particular with the use of colour.
