That is amazing to see, it is so hard to believe that block is finally being developed with a serious tower. It is really changing the dynamic of that area.

I miss those food carts, but to finally see this full city block get a tower that it deserves is so great to see. I hope we see some more big buildings rising around this tower.

Taken this morning from the 9th floor of an adjacent building. I estimate that they are starting on around the 15th floor high now.

Look around and you will see that there are not that many sites for new high rises in the vicinity unless there is demolition of active buildings that contribute to the urban fabric of Downtown. Probably the nearest opportunity is the half-block west of the new Moxy Hotel, along SW 11th. Another possibility one block north could be the half-block bounded by SW 10th between Oak and Harvey Milk, where a new building was proposed a few years ago. And then to the south, the Smartpark bounded by Morrison & Yamhill / 9th & 10th should have been demolished and redeveloped with a high-rise, but the City just spent a ton of money rehabbing it. So south of the garage, there are a bunch of half-block parking lots along SW 10th, 11th, and 12th Avenues just crying out to be developed. I expect that to happen after a post-pandemic shaking out because the market for new office space is changing.

That last parking lot along the Park Blocks (at Park and Main)! CAN.NOT.WAIT for that one to disappear.

I believe that Park Block property is owned by the Portland Art Museum and is future expansion space for maybe their offices should art gallery space grow and take over their office space on the north side of the Mark Building. Can anyone in-the-know confirm if my memory is correct?

The art museum does own the entire block except for the Roosevelt Condos. They've landbanked it for eventual expansion. Probably a great spot for food carts perhaps combined with a sculpture garden. Any art museum expansion is probably many years in the future.

Walked by the site a few days ago, looks like they're working on the 11th floor. 24 more to go!

I work at fox tower and watched Park Avenue West go up daily, this building is just so much bigger in terms of mass, even though they will end up the same height.

Not surprising. This one occupies a full 200-foot Portland block while Park Avenue West occupies about 1/2 the site area.
