LOUISVILLE, KY | Capital Plaza | 380 FT / 116 M | 25 FLOORS | PRO

I figured I'd make a separate thread for this building instead of lumping it in with the Museum Plaza thread.

Well the Developer is in the process of trying to acquire the land from the Metro Gov't. I haven't seen any recent news articles about it, but hopefully we'll here something soon. From the sound of the articles I've read, once Barrister gets the land, there wouldn't be too much in the way of getting this built. Here's hoping Capital Plaza becomes reality!

I'm orginally from Louisville and a U of L grad living in the Wendy for City for 20 years (1988). I visit my hometown often since my parents still live there. I am very excited about the skyline of Louisville. I have read everything you can read about Museum Plaza and now this building to fill the space between Seventh street and Eighth on Market. Has anyone seen or heard anything else about the $25 million ZirMed Gateway Towers? Are they still planning to build them?

The Zirmed Gateway tower is very much under construction. They are already going vertical on it and from the looks of it, the basement should be done in a couple of days.

Yeah, the ZirMed Gateway Towers started fairly quickly and they really haven't let up. I was surprised at how fast they started the work (also clearing out the surface parking around the building). I'll be looking forward to checking the progress on that here in a few weeks.

I'm definitely looking forward to this one going up as well as museum plaza, about time Louisville FINALLY started adding some real high rises to its downtown

This is definetly going to be my 2nd favorite in Louisville, behind AEGON Center. just add 20 more ffet to break into the 400ft level! Very modern, sleek, and compliments the Humana Bldg., a somewhat similar color scheme.

Capital Plaza

Very nice building and long awaited. This block has been a bombed out surface lot since unban renewal 40 years ago. It will certainly do a lot to fill in a void in the skyline. I haven't heard much about it in the media. The only unfortunate thing I can see is the name. Capital Plaza is already being used on a taller building ( 28 stories ) 50 miles away in Frankfort. So, I think a new name would be appropriate. About 15 years ago there was a beautiful proposal for this site for a smaller Chrysler type building, but it never go built. An unfortunate way that things seem to occur in Louisville. I now wonder when Museum Plaza will resume.
