After seeing it in real life, I can confirm this is my favorite of the new New York supertalls, easily.

well its got swag to spare, but its looking a little lost up there among the bigger new kids in town. a shame about that.

i think moma tower's best look is the sw corner view of it along sixth avenue.

The gold and silver frosted tips ruined this one. If it was just one or the other color it would be OK, but both? Wtf kind of design is that? "Let's add all the metalic colors!"

No, Amanda Burden and the NIMBYs ruined this one, with their idiotic 200 ft. height cut.

Still a spectacular tower, of course, but far too short to really stand out.

Most important thing is that the base is good. Cities are judged on their streets, and not their fancy skylines. The street is the most important thing to get right because that's what most people are looking at. Let's face it, most people in NY are not looking up at the towers much at all, they are looking at the street level.

Correction, MOST cities aren't judged on their skylines. New York is different. It's skyline is and has been the image of the city for a long time. It's obvious that it's one if the most pedestrianized cities, and as such the street level experience is very important. But let's not kid ourselves here, the skyline matters. Besides the loss of life, it's the reason 9/11 hit so hard for so many people in the tri-state, whether they ever step foot in Manhattan or not. The skyline means something.

Flew in and out of LaGuardia recently and despite its larger neighbors, this is the tower that stood out the most and it reflected the sun beautifully. Absolutely spectacular tower. Bravo.
