This orientation provides the most clear floorspace/flexibility on a small site. Look at other constrained sites and you'll continue to see this strategy, heck look at Seagram and you'll see the same.

Added bonus of saving some costs on glazing and its an easy sell to developers.

Also how does 'kitty corner of the main tower' work? Sky bridges?
