Not to be didactic but to your comment "... Brooklyn is finally getting a real anchor on it's (sic) skyline..." Actually, Brooklyn had a real "anchor" on its skyline for decades, the Williamsburg Savings Bank Tower. It anchored Brooklyn the same way the Empire State Building anchored Manhattan. 9 Dekalb is a worthy successor for the 21st century!

I just looked it up and it's a gorgeous building. As a Canadian living a seven hour drive away who has visited Manhattan 15 or so times and flown through Newark/JFK/La Guardia dozens of times and stared out the windows of planes and lounges I have never noticed it unfortunately. I feel like 9 Dekalb would be something different however, it would be visible from afar and attract the eye to Brooklyn. That's why I am calling it a 'real anchor'. I'll make sure to visit both buildings when 9 Dekalb is finished!

Yeah but WSB tower is soooo far. It doesn't stand out at all from Manhattan since it is so far away. Not to mention for its entire existence until now it was surrounded by industrial wasteland. So the tower juxtaposed to that didn't shine as it does now. But now that area has totally transformed. I would like to see that area further pedestrianized though. It feels still harsh to traverse which makes appreciating the tower a bit hard.

The 1st super tall outside of Manhattan, and a hell of a tower to make history.

Wasn't too long ago that One Hanson Place was the most dominant tower in Brooklyn. Not too long ago! Brooklyn alone has a skyline and clusters that if placed alone, would rival most places in the U.S..

Its a glorious time to be in skyscraper wise.
Let's remember how the Brooklyner was not long ago the tallest building in Brooklyn? My god, the dark age of skyscrapers in Brooklyn. Truly baffling how the quality has improved so dramatically in ten years. This area of Brooklyn is a real success story. But this tower is the crown on the cake.

Btw this tower shares a more dramatic resemblance to the bank of america tower in Charlotte, which I persoanlly love.

^ So happy that this is happening, and will rise quickly. Now, if we could just get one of these in that skyline shot to the north (Queens). LIC definitely needs an iconic, skyline defining tower.

Undercover super tall, rising quietly. One of the few (very tiny, measured in units of nano's) things good with the year 2020. There is hope!

will they leave a blank concrete wall on one side, just to fit in with the neighbors?

Not gonna lie, I spit out my coffee when I read this one. It's climbing quickly! One of the more exciting projects now that the midtown Manhattan supertalls are starting to wrap up.
