The Raleigh skyline sure has changed a lot since I moved here in 1997! I was wondering if anybody might be up to the task of creating an updated "future skyline" rendering/picture? Or maybe a zoomed out Google image showing where the various projects are going? I would do it myself but I'm not nearly that technically inclined.

"Could begin sometime in 2015" is the last I've heard on it.

Charter Square South progress. Charter Square South has turned out very... blue.

To the right of Charlotte Square South (the blue one) is the location of what will be Charlotte Square North. The foundation is already in place. It will be close to 20 floors compared to the 11 floor South tower, and an announcement on it should come later this year.

North Hills tower two is above ground now:

Some unfortunate news to share: Three construction workers were killed and another in critical condition when mast climber scaffolding collapsed during its removal on on the site of the under-construction 11-floor Charter Square South building in downtown Raleigh:

I think downtown Raleigh has a very good street presentation. It some of the building in North Hills were in downtown, that would be a plus.

Another hotel planned for downtown Raleigh:

Hilton Garden Inn coming to the NW corner of Davie and McDowell Streets.

A 9 floor Residence Inn is planned to start construction in downtown Raleigh soon as well.

In other news, Allscripts Healthcare is in talks to build a new 18-floor tower in North Hills Raleigh, where 18 floor North Hills Tower II is already under construction. This would be a separate tower than the planned 22+ floor Tower III. Details here.

Also, City Council approved a rezoning request for a lot in downtown on Hillsborough street. A developer has plans for a 20 floor tower with ground floor retail for the site, but there's not rendering yet. Linky

Nice infill coming to Peace St. west of Glenwood.

New 12 floor office building coming to North Hills, where 18 floor North Hills Tower II already under construction and 20+ floor Tower III also planned. This will be the Allscripts headquarters, which is at least better than a campus of 3 floors buildings way out in the hinderlands.

Charter Square looks great. I like the general look of the building modern and classy and the bluish glass is different. Hopefully they will put a plaque in the lobby or just out front acknowledging the lives lost in the accident during construction.

And in that photo you can see the foundation of Charter Square North in the very bottom-center and bottom-right of the photo. Hopefully they will announce construction of that approx. 20 floor tower later this year. I read that Red Hat will be completely out of space in their tower in two years, so hopefully they will look at leasing space in either Charter Square North or the Edison office tower.

Glass is starting to go up on North Hills Tower II:

Here's the Charter Square North tower announcement that we've been expecting now that the 11 floor Charter Square South is complete.

22 floors mixed-use. 194 apartment living spaces with rooftop pool and 250,000-square-feet of office space on the lower levels. Source.
