Forsyth Avenue

Under Construction

The article in the Spec mentions:

Quote:
5 July-Sept. Forsyth Ave., Island at McMaster Sidewalk $350,000*
Does anyone know exactly where on Forsyth this is happening?

I'd imagine from Traymore to Sterling. There's no sidewalk on the west side of Forsyth Ave.

Odd that it doesn't already have a sidewalk after so many years. Any reason for that?

No clue. Perhaps the City back in the 70s thought it was HHS responsibility to build or fund the sidewalks on the west side of Forsyth.

They currently have those bendy poles along the middle of Forsyth Ave. It's to slow down the drivers.

I avoid that area like a plague. It's horrible for drivers and pedestrians. The stop lights at University/Main will probably go green for about 15 seconds before switching to yellow so cars rush up to beat the lights. During rush hours it's crazy with line ups.

The parking garage makes the situation even worst as they try to force drivers to turn right on Forsyth to exit at theUniversity/Main intersection. Some drivers will cut through the island, which you aren't suppose to do, and turn left on Forsyth. Perhaps they are going to re-do that island.

At one point they put up one of those bendy pole to stop drivers turning left from the parking garage to Forsyth. The next day the pole was ripped out haha.

The poles are also to discourage the use of Forsyth as an illegal truck route - part of the city's tit for tat battle with Mac over Mac's use of residential streets for all their truck traffic.

Think they've finished installing the sidewalks. City crew were working on it last week.
