Foundation is underway, looked like 6 or 7 or more cement trucks on site this morning. Haven't ever seen that many cement trucks in one place at one time.

Swung by today after getting some ribs. Lots of work going on Rookwood at the moment to handle the upgrades.

As for the new building, the rebar is showing above ground and lots of work going on at the moment. The concrete will probably start rising above the ground level by July I'd say.

A couple of images of the construction. Taken from the roof of the CARIS building across the street.

Looks like the first floor is mostly complete and the second floor is well underway.

July 2021 PAC request to adjust the zoning of the second building:

https://www.fredericton.ca/sites/def...acjuly2021.pdf

The first building (under construction, on the corner) will still have a 1st Floor Commercial requirement.

Due to the change in the market, the second building (off Rookwood, along the trail) will now have residential units on the first floor instead.

All the road work is now complete around Rookwood and Waggoners.

And today (Oct 27), the blue CARIS building was demolished, starting to clear the lot for the second building.

Some pics taken on January 1st, 2022.

I think there are still 2 or 3 stories (depending on how you count the pillars at the top of the current level) to go before this tops off.

Looks like they cleared the mountain for the second building. The first one is basically topped off now, and the first 4-5 floors have been closed in.

I'd say they'll be doing foundation work for the second building soon, and moving the crane over before the end of June.

I'll try to get some today, now that I'm back in the area regularly.

*Edit* Some pics I took today:

Not only is the second mountain all but gone, they've started digging below ground level. So foundation work for the second building and the crane foundation block will probably start within a few weeks.

*Edit* Looks like the second building starts "in a couple of weeks".

Today, from a Facebook thread on Bounce Radio:

I have done every inch of concrete on this building . I’ve been here since the hole was dug . It’s gonna be a beautiful building and awesome owners . The exact same one is going up right beside it starting in a couple weeks

There's a pretty sizeable hole dug out here now.

Foundation work is going on for the second building.

I believe they are pouring the base for the crane now, so I wouldn't be surprised if they'll be moving the crane soon.

The first building is about 80% closed in I'd say. Still a lot of walls to put up in the back and on the upper floors, but the front is mostly closed in with windows and doors now.

Not that the renderings were great but the siding is nothing like what was previously shown. I'm not optimistic that this is going to be a good looking building at all.

Yes, I would agree. Unless the lighter colour is supposed the be covered with the brown panels in the original design, as you can see the upper sections are grey per the design, then this does not look like what was proposed and approved by council. I'd be on this if I was the planner.
