What could be the year of opening of this very important tunnel?

That particular component is a part of the 15 Penn project. Presumably it would need to be complete by the opening of 15 Penn. Most likely it’s construction would occur during the construction of 15 Penn. AKA site 7, 15 Penn would be built in the first phase, along with station improvements.

No. The tower construction would likely take up to 4 years. Hotel demo could take a year or two. That hotel is not re-opening, but I doubt they would start any demo this year.

It’s interesting that 15 Penn would be the only tower projected in the first phase. But Vornado would also be focusing on building 350 Park in that timeframe.

If you're talking about 15 Penn, that's 2022 to 2028. So my factors of rougtly 2 years of demo and 4 years of construction is correct. BTW, that chart isn't something handwritten in stone. 270 Park started demo in 2019 and will be complete in 2024 (although construction did start before demo is complete). But even factoring in an extra year, that would still only be six.

Looks like an industrial structure plucked from an oil refinery. Only thing missing is some extra pipes and a gas flare.

so they want this to be what you see when you walk out the front door of penn?

no.

i mean, i realize we are going to get a lot of bland glass boxes with empire (and hopefully a good one), but please just let them just be inoffensive instead of ugly.

The Empire State Building, upon viewing this new modernist mess, burst out in uncontrollable laughter.

This may have been mentioned already in this thread, but anyone who watches Pen15 on Hulu (which is hilarious) giggles uncontrollably when viewing this thead...

I’m more offended by the base, as it’s currently constituted. Respect the streetwall, or just give us a plaza.

Some of the original looks...

Regarding Norman Foster's age and career, what's the term that's the opposite of magnum opus?

Vornado's Evil Plan to Make a New Hudson Yards around Penn Station

Quote:
There are a lot of plans out there about the Penn Station area, such as Rethink's clever plan to make a through train station there, and this excellent plan to rebuild the outside of Penn Station as it was.

...We don't like the Vornado plan because it wants to demolish all the historic fabric in the area, including the wonderful Hotel Pennsylvania and instead of integrating and redesigning the area to fit into the historic city and, it envisages another modernist Hudson Yards in the area. Ugh. Will this city ever learn from its mistakes?
