This would be just down the street from the proposed SL Green/Caesars casino at 1515 Broadway, making this a very intense block. We'll seed which way that goes, but whatever the case may be, a large hotel in Times Square, one that is it's own tourist attraction, should do great.

As for this design, I think it will have somewhat the same effect as a chandelier. Could be a beauty if done right. But either way, it will stand out from anything in the city as far as design goes.

Interested in seeing what the lighting will be here.

Granted we’ve still been running with this ball of a proposed form for the structure for quite some time now; but unless/untill they reveal something that changes what I see as massive disturbances in visual continuity (i.e. fairly gross assumetry at the crown and the juncture of the “neck” and “head”), I’m still not quite sold on the whole venture.

The underlying concepts behind it, though, are worth proceeding. All the scuttlebutt re the possible casino is IMO rather conducive to making this venue a place that will command and demand high-priority entertainment destination status.

More succinctly, it’s the Field of Dreams mantra, but with a more expansive goal.

Is this Extell’s brainchild (asking out of genuine ignorance)? If so, this will be their biggest chance to make the metaphorical silk purse out of a potentially funky-as-shit sow’s ear.

For anyone wondering why there are so many observation decks open and planned in Midtown, it's what the people want.

All of the decks offer different experiences, as well as views. Can't wait to see what this one brings to the party...

This site is just down the block from the proposed SL Green/Caesars casino at 1515 Broadway. That casino would be another attraction drawing more crowds to Times Square. No doubt many would be caught up by this new observation deck/drop tower.

This tower, which supposedly will have lighting to complement its Times Square location, would tower just behind the proposed casino and the Marriot.

Not sure if there's some regulation against that, but maybe if it were in Times Square? Then again, we see animation on towers like the ESB from time to time.

^ That building is also landmarked. They just went through an approvals process for changes to the observation deck deck, as well as minor changes to the storefronts below.

WTF is this thing? Got to be the ugliest tower over 500 feet I've seen. I wonder how much money they paid authorities to get this approved for construction.

If the Caesars Palace Times Square (just down the street) comes to be, it bodes well for this project…

No other competitive gaming site fitting for a license will come remotely close to our project in terms of the economic impact on surrounding businesses. Because we are space constrained and can only accommodate about 1/3 of the projected hotel room night demand inside our facility, the remaining 2/3 of net new demand will go to other hotels in and around Times Square driving 636,000 room nights per year to our hotel neighbors.

That also creates jobs because we can only accommodate about 10% of the dining demand within our facility, the vast majority of visitors to Caesars Palace Times Square will eat out restaurants outside of the venue.
