Normally the term is "approved on consent" meaning it went on the consent agenda. If a CM wants to vote against an item but not pull it from the consent agenda it's, "the consent agenda of X, Y and Z passes. Show CM Dairy Queen voting no for item X". As far as who voted for what the City Clerk keeps all of that information and I believe it's on her website.

AUSTIN | 22Rio | ? Feet | 19 Floors | Proposed

The site plan for this was filed in late November and stated that this was 23-stories. But it wasn't clear if that included the underground parking levels. More info has since been added to the site plan, and we have some confirmation on the height. The pool is on the 19th level, which is most likely the top level based on the height limit for the area. And there has been no indication that a zoning change is being sought for 23-stories.

Here's the site plan:
https://abc.austintexas.gov/web/perm...ertyrsn=310352

Here's the location on the NW corner of Rio Grande & 22nd from Streetview:

Wait, are they building it where that house is? That house is really charming and looks historic.

Yeah, I'm hoping they're planning to wrap it around that house. It would suck to lose that.

There may be info about the exact location of this project in the three attached files to the site plan. I just glanced through them real quick looking for height info.

That house is much nicer than other houses in WC that have historical landmark status.

One thing I noticed is on the last page of this document, it lists the "correct address" as 2111 Rio Grande. That would put the location at the southeast corner of that intersection.

https://abc.austintexas.gov/attachme...8zdKYnWg%3D%3D

That would be this house: Either one of the houses at that intersection would be an unfortunate loss.

That address/location makes more sense. They may just be using 2200 Rio Grande elsewhere in the filing as a generic location since it's at the intersection of Rio Grande & 22nd St. Plus that location would put 21Rio and 22Rio next to each other.

Pretty sure it's this project. Which a thread already exists for.

Villas on Rio Grande thread.

But maybe not?

Here's the historic structure in question.

Could be, but that project has a different and much further along active site plan:

https://abc.austintexas.gov/web/perm...ertyrsn=191086

Both projects are being designed by Rhode Partners, but have different applicants. The similar/conflicting addressing and names of all the WC projects makes it difficult to keep track of them all.

What you originally posted was a building permit not a site plan. I'm pretty positive it's the same building. The site plan comes first and then the building permit.

Plus I have an inside source on the project that confirmed it's the same.

Thanks for the clarification. I merged the old thread into this one since 22Rio seems to be the new name. The original rendering doesn't have a 19th floor pool. So I'm guessing the building was redesigned. I hope it didn't lose that slope.

It is very monstrous amd monolithic but I do like the interesting geometric facade. There are a lot worse monstrous buildings in west campus, it's refreshing to see some thought to design details instead of going the cheap and easy way with flat walls.

Lets hope the final product is better than that rendering.
This looks like a terrible leftover from some early '80s late-wave Brutalist plan.

The site plan was released for AULCC, and the elevations are on pages 27-30:
ftp://ftp.ci.austin.tx.us/ATD_AULCC/...pe_PLAN_02.pdf

The 19th floor is the highest occupied level, and it's 186'.

This one is monolithic, yet very well designed. Interested to see how it turns out.

The site pan was posted again today on the AULCC page. It lists the name as Villas on Rio Grande. I'm starting to get confused since this thing has had 3 different names, Villas on Rio Grande, Villas on 22nd, and 22Rio.

689 bedrooms and 1155 beds in 284 apartment units on around 23,000 square feet of usable land (excluding the landmarked house) is remarkably dense.

It's easy to imagine another 4,000+ walking trips east/west over Guadalupe each day. #beautiful Hope the City is able to catch up on the changing needs of this area and focus more on transit north/south and bike/pet/scoot east/west. There is a new West Campus Neighborhood Association that is helping this conversation but I'm not sure how much attention it's getting at City Hall.
