SSP Competition: Hudson River Bridge

Congratulations to Patrick for winning the Observation Tower Competition.

Our next competition is the Hudson River Bridge comp.

Rules:
-The bridge can be any design.
-It must provide both vehicle and pedestrian traffic a way of crossing.
-The Bridge must be located between Lower Manhattan and the George Washington Bridge [see map below].

The deadline is June 14th but can be extended by two or three days.

I hope we can get at least 5 entries. This will definitely be a good comp!

I'm in too. I would love to design something less boring for New York. I think I'm going past modern into "futuristic" on this one. I already found my location and everything.

I love the idea of a bridge coming out of NYC. I think i'm going to build one coming from "west new york" in jersey into the upper west side onto west 66th street.

I'm in!

Can't say with certainty if I will totally participate. I just started on mine a moment ago and I will decide to join in if I feel I am making some progress. One side of mine will be about a 5 minute walk from the WTC site and the other side will probably lead into 2nd street on the Jersey city side.

Yes, it has to go in the highlighted area between New Jersey and Manhattan.

Okay, the first entry has been sent in! Can't wait to see the others!

Btw, I'm almost finished myself. Just gotta add a few details here and there, some renders and I'll be done!

So should I extend the deadline? I've only got one entry so far.

Well it depends. Are they do BY Sunday or can we still hand them in late Sunday night?

Bridges are not my specialty at all so its taking me a while. I personally think mine is going to be one of the weaker entries but its worth a shot.

Any entry is a good entry.

And when I post deadlines it usually means by the end of the day.

But I was hoping more people would join. Jahogs, SS100, Austin, Pat, Vellu, CGII?

I got pretty far and then gave up. It was getting way too detailed.

Hate it when that happens. It makes me lose momentum when I get too detailed.

Interesting competition! Unfortunately I have to skip this one. I'm lacking time and good ideas.

How many submissions so far?

I basically have to re-learn Kerky, so I am not sure if I can make the deadline tonight.

What if I make the deadline Wednesday? It gives people more time. I was even thinking making the deadline on Friday or Sunday!

I only have 3 entries.
