Pretty much inline for when Creighton should be done. I think that is on purpos, in either case its not as far away as it seems. 2.5 years. Construction for both could begin this fall.

Looks like The Battery apartments could be breaking ground soon according to this Case Study. This will bring a little more connectivity to the warehouse district and the downtown core. Anyone have more information on this project?

I’m thinking since JMA is the developer and they still have the project on their website and the fact this article is relatively recent (October 2018) that there may be hope for this project yet...

According to that article you posted it looks like they are taking advantage of some new property tax incentives that were a part of the federal tax bill of 2017.

Maybe with the tax break they were able to pencil the financing out finally

I thought it was dead as a doornail tbh

Yea, it looks like it’s coming back to life, hopefully. My only concern is that the article says that construction was slated to start in 90 days and that was back in October; I walked by the area today and there are no signs of life

I found another article referencing the tax incentives that the developer is using to finance this project. It looks like the government shut down has had/will have an impact on the start of this project. https://www.bisnow.com/san-francisco...fund-96767#ath

Also, it looks like there have been numerous permits/plan reviews for this project within the last week or so.

The project number is 13-1748.

Most of the permit reviews looks similar to most projects before they start construction. Seems like they are prepping the site for construction by getting approval to move utilities to the site and other required connections. Something could get going very soon!

Yeah, people were talking about this a while back when KJ became envolved. Maybe they were waiting to at least know we will have one arena/stadium there for the next 20 years. Makes sense to not use the name Ball Park Lofts if the Diamondbacks move elsewhere.

In some cities they call this the 'Missing Middle.' In Minneapolis for example, they just rezoned the whole city to a minimum of 4 units per parcel. That means that John can scrape his parcel and build a McMansion while Joe next door can scrape his parcel and build a 4-plex. Guess you could say that in Minneapolis the YIMBY's are in charge and they wanted to promote the Missing Middle.

Very impressive how much is going on in Midtown.

Just a quick update on Cambria since the webcam hasn't worked in a month. Sorry I didn't grab a quick update pic this morning because I was driving. Cambria is up to the 5th level and there's a small'ish crane on site now instead of the mobile crane they were using. Should be topped in a few weeks. It's starting to make a pretty good mark to the 3rd St entrance of the Row.

On a side note, the house next door should save a lot of money on their summer heating bills.

APS needs to remove the power lines. Same thing that held up the Columbus/Central apartments for nearly 2 months.

Wow. It does appear that Macayo's will once again lose its Midtown site. The chain recently sold all but that location and the Depot Cantina in Tempe to new owners, so I wonder if they're going to relocate once again, maybe to the ground floor retail in this location, or if this is just another step towards fading away completely.

The bank building has some interesting mid-century features, although probably not enough to qualify for historic preservation. The extraordinarily average FedEx building next door appears unaffected, though.

I mentioned this development back in January, but I didn't realize that Macayo's was part of it and would be demolished. The new Macayo's has been doing fairly well. I wonder if they will have a retail spot in the new development or if they have another location picked out nearby or close entirely after getting acquired by the new ownership?
