Agreed, Richmond Road from Sherbourne (where the LRT switches form Parkway to Richmond) all the way to Lincoln Fields has a lot of potential. Not far from river, parkway, parks/beaches, LRT right at your doorstep, etc..

There's already decent density (esp. around Ambleside) but still room for improvements to add density and more street-front retail to make the area more enjoyable and walkable.

I can't help but wonder if the NCC has requested that the transitway remain intact up to the 417 so that they have the option of one day extending the parkway. I know the 417 interchange would be difficult, but it I don't think it would be impossible.

Looks like work on the Scott Street extension for the upcoming Transitway detour is underway. MUP detour in place between Churchill and Roosevelt as well.

In my work life, I've had to deal with Councillors Hubley, Sudds, El-Chantiry, Egli, Leiper, McKenney, Fleury, King, Chiarelli, Dudas, Luloff, Derouze, Harder, Moffatt and previous Councillors such as Doucet, Bloess, Qaqish, Qadri. Different communications work with different ones and they all have their quirks and I find it is best to loop their 'planning' assistant as well if it is a 'planning' enquiry.

I have my fave's and some I wouldn't want to deal with again. I know that City staff and those who work in the land development/consulting industry have some that they like to deal with and others who they find to be a pain.

Moodie to LF progress. Holly Acres Bridge is progressing well. Significant foundation work at Lincoln Fields. Ongoing trench work at Queensview. Steel structure going up at Moodie Yards.

Anyone know if a pedestrian overpass is planned for Queensview/Iris/Pinecrest station to improve access to commercial section on the other side of the Queensway (aka Ikea) and to residents of that side?

Big miss if not, as people would be discouraged to use transit if they had to do a long detour on the overpass (with dangerously fast cars speeding to take the 417-on ramps).

Queensview Station will connect to the south side of the Queensway at Baxter via an overpass. No such plans for Pinecrest.

Continuing conversation from the Confederation Line East LRT Extension (Stage 2) [Blair to Trim] | U/C thread, as it is off topic there:

On top of that, the park and ride is on the wrong side of the highway for the Stage 3 station. Rather than spend all that money on building pedestrian overpasses to connect them to the station, they could instead build a parking garage at Terry Fox. Eagleson currently has 1,220 parking spaces and Terry Fox currently has 537, so a 4 level garage at Terry Fox should have over 2000 spaces, enough to replace Eagleson. Not only can the save money from not having to build the overpasses, but they can then sell the land for development. They could even require the developer to build a public overpass to serve the community.
The whole area around Terry Fox is quite confusing, with narrow two lane streets snaking through "Smart" Centres with massive parking lots. Eagleson is better suited for a parking garage as it's more accessible.
It actually isn't as bad as it seems. If we have to pick our daughter up from a Park & Ride, we tend to use Terry Fox (more westbound buses stop there) and getting in and out really isn't that difficult. Sure Eagleson is nice (quick in and out), but when Stage 3 is built, the Park & Ride will be on the wrong side of the highway and any extra convenience driving will be more than lost by having to walk across the highway.

Is it doable to keep Eagleson? Yes, but I still say it would make sense to save the money on pedestrian bridges (they have them planned to cross both the 417 and Eagleson to service both lots) and build a parking garage at Terry Fox instead. The city could then sell the land at Eagleson for development. The eastern lot is a bit tricky to develop, as it cuts into the greenbelt, but the OPP could potentially relocate there, opening their land up for TOD.

There already is a Park & Ride at the CTC, but it is only open between 5:45 am and 6:30 pm, so not good for those who might need to stay late.

Worker injured on LRT construction site in Westboro
Ministry of Labour investigating after 59-year-old man sustained head injury

Joanne Chianello · CBC News

A 59-year-old man working on Ottawa's Confederation Line LRT extension project was injured when material fell from a forklift and struck him in the head on Thursday morning.

Ontario's ministry of labour is formally investigating the incident.

An official with Ottawa paramedics told CBC they received a 911 call around 10:25 a.m. from Roosevelt Avenue, just south of the existing Transitway. Paramedics said the man was transported by ambulance to hospital and was in serious but stable condition.

According to an email from John Manconi, Ottawa's general manager of transportation, the city was advised of the injury by Kiewit Eurovia Vinc (KEV), the contractor building the Confederation Line extension. KEV was "working with the Ministry of Labour and Ottawa Police Services to investigate the incident," Manconi wrote.

The city, police and paramedics would not provide any further details about the man's injury. However, the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development told CBC in an email that the worker "was injured after being struck by the load of a forklift which had tipped. The employer is Lemire Inc."

The western extension of the Confederation Line, which will run to Moodie Drive with a spur that extends to Baseline Road at Algonquin College, is set to be finished by 2025.

The man was injured while working near the new Kìchì Sìbì station, formerly known as Dominion station, located between Dominion an Berkley avenues on the south side of the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway, in the heart of Westboro.

A three-kilomentre tunnel being constructed just west of Kìchì Sìbì station will run diagonally from the parkway under Richmond Road, then under the Byron Linear Park.

Love the shots (as always). The last one really gives some perspective on the route along SJAM.

Agreed. It's so hard to envision the entire route when you bike or drive by that mess. Much like the Lebreton and Lees portals, it's always cool to see where the train will shoot underground!

Wow.

I used to visit Algonquin/Baseline regularly in pre-Pandemic times, and to see this progress now...? Amazing!
