Radio Thread

I found it interesting that rock station The Bear has switched to a top 40 pop music format.

Any thoughts? I guess Live 88.5 knocked them out of their market niche.

I'm ticked about it. Now it's nothing but the same music we get on EVERY OTHER RADIO STATION.

Bring back the Bear, please!

88.5 is more my jam, but what I actively disliked about The Bear was how the announcers were utterly obnoxious.

Saturday mornings. 98.5 The Jewel. Repeats of Casey Kasem countdowns from the 1970s. Good times.

This is more what I expected. Fans of the type of music that The Bear played tend to be a feisty bunch.

"Jump" is too much like Hot 88.9 to have any point, in my opinion.

I listen mostly to siriusxm in the car.

For local radio I'm stuck on Premiere 90.7. Since the CRTC changed the rules on programming in 1993 everything else local seems to have slowly gone to sewage. When CFRA dropped Michael Harris and Middle-Aged Bald Guys to become the official station of malcontents and misfits I gave up on English language programming in this city.

After 9 PM I switch to WABC 770 for the John Batchelor Show, which I've listened to religiously since the night of September 11, 2001.

Not radio, but I see that CTV Ottawa newscast is finally in HD.

I checked my calendar to see if it was 2006.

They had pretty bad ratings, so I guess it was inevitable.

Quite astounding to see CBC Radio One's dominance 2.5 times higher than CFRA

Same, when I'm not listening to podcasts.

Who here listens to podcasts and for what subjects? I listen to 14 different podcasts on rotation and subjects are Application Development, Business, Marketing, Music and Soccer.
