Yes, I don't know what exactly they're required to do constitutionally, in terms of funding. Maybe nothing. They have to allow the system to exist, though. The funding is provided by those using the schools, but unlike in Manitoba (say) those people don't have to also pay for the regular school system.

I'm feeling like "Canadian Maps and Graphics" is some sort of Cockney rhyming slang for "Canadian Roman Catholics".

I love how these maps of Quebec never concede that Labrador belongs to Newfoundland.

This one even claims the coast of Labrador. Where's SHH????

Also, I think that map shows a portion of Quebec West of where the Ottawa and St. Lawrence Rivers meet as being water rather than land.

But yet, Labrador is very English, not French. Case closed.
If their treatment of their north shore is any indication, they would also be terrible for Labrador.
Les idiots, they should be claiming part of New Brunswick.

Here's my old "what Quebec claims it's entitled to" map showing land and water claims vs. where most people in Quebec live. Maybe Quebec will separate and end up fighting a war with its uncomfortably close neighbour Denmark.

you forgot to include Sherbrooke and the Estrie region. The boundary in the Atlantic is mainly because the Magdalen Islands are in Quebec.

Yep, Quebec gets a huge portion of the Gulf of St. Lawrence rights because of the Magdalen Islands, population 12,000. If you look in Google Maps for directions to get to the islands from Montreal, it's an 18 hour trip via NB and PEI. There is no ferry from Quebec.

By that standard, we can walk to Labrador, Newfoundlanders can't.

And it's connected to both our road and rail networks, while being disconnected from Newfoundland's.

Google suggests that if you want to drive to Blanc Sablon, QC you should head to NB, then NS, then NL, then take the ferry. The road seems to end in some place called Kegaska.

Most people take the plane to go to the islands.

Note that it's Quebec that seems unhappy with the borders as drawn by most of the world. All those parts of Labrador with names like Happy Valley-Goose Bay that you get to from the ferry from NL rightfully should be a part of Quebec.

Maybe some folks in Quebec City have tender memories of when their parents loaded them up in the minivan for the 22 hour 4-province trip to do some arctic camping excursions in their "backyard".

If the Liberals want to stay relevant outside of Montréal, they will have to show a more nationalist view of their province, otherwise they will never win another election.
