It would be if Quebec hadn't used it since the 1960s for their hockey team.

I can hear their team song though - just take the Mooseheads song and change the last line to "You just can't block the VIEW!!!"

That is hilarious, and very true!

I think it should be called the Halifax eXplosion. Maybe no "e" at all.

Halifax Hurricanes? Considering we would be the only CFL city that can get hurricanes/tropical storms on an annual basis

too XFLish....

I think the name will have to be "Atlantic something" and try to get some type of Federal Funding under the guise of Maritime unity or something to that effect

That may be the case for a team in Moncton, but I do believe Halifax can survive without marketing itself as a maritime team.

I think it would survive, but I think if there is any hope of "Federal" funding, having a more broad "Atlantic" may help.
I know in Vancouver the Feds contributed to Skytrain Airport expansion line in exchange for it being called the "Canada Line"

I vote "Halifax White Juans", although that probably wouldn't pass the sniff test of the CFL race relations committee......

Federal money wasn't contingent on it being called the Canada Line. There is no precedent, whatsoever, for that sort of thing. Halifax won't need to use a regional name to garner funds from the feds. Not even politicians are that petty.

Hmmm Explosions might be like calling a team in Hiroshima the "Atom Bombs".
But wow...Hurricanes, Privateers, Bucaneers...even Destroyers are all great.
For me...the Citadels or Hurricanes...

I think Nova Scotia would also be ok for a name (like B.C. or Saskatchewan). It would depend on the nickname.
