Yup. I was poking fun at the Independent lol since they claim it's the new tallest when in fact it's pretty much level with the Austonian aside from a couple of feet.

I'm liking the 6X design.
Kind of like an updated take on a 3/5th scale Willis (Sears!) Tower

Yes...please drop a couple of 152' spires on this thing and make it a cool 1000' tall.

Sears being my #1 favorite American skyscraper makes me REALLLLLY want some type of antenna or spire on top of 6X.... who knows, something to make it the 'tallest in Texas'

They should just offer a good deal for the Fairmont spire.

I agree, the crown ruins an otherwise decent scraper. A less stupid looking crown could have made the Austonian signature. Still beats out the Independant's crown by far. I agree that a spire would look good on the 6X but would open up an old can of worms...

Why not just make the building 1,000 feet. I know this has been discussed to death but I personally don't think spires should be included, rather the roofline should be the official height but it is what it is..

Yeah, what is it with the Austonian’s crown?? It just looks dumb from certain angles. The rest is elegant and fine.

God. I def wouldn’t wanna stir up drama like the Chicago Vs. NY crap. Sears is taller. End of story!

If you put a brim around the Austonian crown, it'd look like a Stetson.

I can just imagine the annoying segway tour guides blabbering about that on 2ns street.

What're the chances 6X gets some tweaks? Would a spire require a ton of new approvals?

As much as I would love for this one to get taller...wasn't it the FAA who forced the downsizing from 873' to its current 848'?

I fully agree. Skinny spires don’t do it at all, IMO.
Take the Chrysler Building...... now that’s a spire!

Good. It will probably happen at the very end of July since the hotel closes on the 21st. Then they'll probably have a few days after that to remove any furniture/equipment/supplies that they want to salvage.

I say let's all get together that day or evening and drink to your destruction of that stupid Extended Stay. So glad it's finally gonna go away!

Two or three years ago an employee was sneaking into guest's rooms and assaulting and robbing them IIRC.

But if we tore every one down for a new tallest...I'd be OK with it.
