[Eastern Passage] 1490 Main Road | ? m | 2X5 fl | Proposed

"The applicant is proposing to enter into a development agreement to construct two five storey multi-unit buildings (approximately 60 units each) and a self-storage facility on a 4.8 acre site at 1490 Main Road, Eastern Passage. A development agreement is a contract between the municipality and a property owner that specifies site-specific conditions over such matters as building size and appearance, site layout, and land use." Quoted from HRM Planning

Case 18599 Details

I don't really know Eastern Passage enough to form an opinion on the suitability of this project but what I can say is this will be dense for the community and it is located in the village centre near Fisherman's Cove.

The wharf area there is beautiful in the summer, maybe a development like this might give the area a more downtown feel.

I think any effort to increase density in Eastern Passage would be good for the central area. There are stores there and it is really downtown Eastern Passage. Much of the housing is old very old stock and the area could use a face lift. The people of eastern Passage would like a supermarket so this would help to that end

This could be great. The area needs some diversity in housing and development like this could help some of the older residents age in place instead of having to move out of their community.

The development that can be seen at the end of the road at the street view for this site is the perfect example of density that works for this area.
