Has anyone noticed any new movement over at the new Post District Project? Other than the conversion rehab of one of the smaller buildings, I haven't heard of anything moving forward lately. Also, updates on Patrinely and 6th and Main??

Yes, there's a lot of activity. They have been digging and doing foundation work. Full crew there everyday. Same with 6th and Main.

Thanks, Luke. I was just around that neighborhood yesterday, good to see movement. Now, can we see some diversity and heights, please?

I was referring to the Post district earlier with the full crew there everyday. Sorry that wasn't very clear. They've got most of the pit dug and have begun the preliminary foundation work.
Seeing the footprint mostly carved out is striking in how large this project is. It'll be massive.

It also appears the renovations to the building at the Southwest corner across 5th South is nearly completely. I like what they've done with it.

I'll try to find some time to snap some pictures tomorrow.

I think these projects currently on the boards and under construction are going to speed up the infill of this southern perimeter of downtown. Hopefully, that will also lead to a buildup of pressure to create more multi-use high-rise towers, along with new tallests, particularly in the CBD.

Another cool project we haven't heard from for a while is the 'Birdie'. If anyone passes by there regularly please grab a couple of pics...And thanks Scott ahead of time for snapping anything you can on the Post District. I think we all love these update pics, even those living in the Metro but aren't able to pass by the location very often. Then there are those of us like Orlando, Wrendog, I-215, along with myself and others living outside the area, who doubly appreciate the photo updates.

Scott, That would be great to see some photos of the progress on the Post District.

Regarding all the development happening in south downtown, has anyone heard what the status is of Food Alley on State Street? I just did a street view from Google Earth, and it looks like there might be some demolition going on. See below.

For the Food Alley, the demolition happened, and some utilities were put into the ground - but then everything stopped. That was about a year ago(?). If you look over the fence, the ground is still all torn up and PVC pipes/conduits are still spread around the site.
Hopefully whatever problems caused the project to halt can be resolved. But since COVID is not exactly the best time to be a restaurant, perhaps its better if they wait.

Speaking of container developments, can we get an update on this on 5th West?

Normally I'd seriously consider FLYING into SLC from SoCal just to see the new airport.

But being a pandemic, that's off the table. In fact, I believe you have to have a ticket now just to get into the terminal (temporary COVID rules) or be actively helping an arriving family/friend with their luggage. But I suppose one could go check out the parking garage.

Bummer. Didn’t realize I wouldn’t be able to check out the area before security. Well I’m booking a trip somewhere in October. Guess I’ll have to wait.
