Nothing special, but it should provide more density to the city. I wonder how much the units will cost.

Its better than what is on the site now, but you're right, nothing special.

They are talking about two-level rental units. Given the area and how average the proposed construction is, I can't seem them being priced too high, but then again who knows.

This one was posted in the old project thread a while ago.

It's very hard to tell what the building will look like based on the rendering. I think the idea is to simulate the brightly coloured wooden houses in the area by painting it different colours in different sections. That could either be attractive or hideous, depending on how they do it exactly.

Well at least if the paint job is hideous it would be easy enough to fix.

I think it's a good sized project for the area and I like the number of entrances at street level. It's nothing special but we'll see what happens.

Agricola and North apartments

Has anyone seen the design for the proposed apartment building going up on the corner of North and Agricola, just north of DAve's bottle exchange. I heard it is some type of subsidized units.

It will be a four storey, 24 unit building with a retail space on the ground floor (to be occupied by Phoenicia Foods).

I walked by this site in August and nothing had changed. Dunno if it's approved at this point or not.

*bump*

Time for this thread to be revived considering the demolition of the building shown above.

The problem with the north end at the moment is that garbage developments are fyling under the radar. At this rate, 50% of prime space will be occupied with substandard buildings before anyone notices.

Yeah, the Agricola and North building didn't turn out very well.

For the North End I think there's a lot of benefit just to filling in the holes. To some degree I think that quality will naturally improve as the area improves, although there should be a certain standard for new developments.
