^ The same way The Pint built a patio - under the extensive arcade portion of the building:

Heck, there's even a render just a few posts up.

Thanks for the google street view link Dave.

Can picture it much better now. Not too much depth but a very wide space. This will be a big, awesome, patio.

^yup and while I am not a big Pint fan, their patio on a Saturday aft from 1-sunset is solid.

State and Main patio up, odd though for it looks like you need to access the restaurant from 101 St.

I'm ok with that, spreads the entryways around a bit; otherwise that 101 St. side would be dead space.

De Dutch for breaky, solid panne, but why oh why do they seat most people behind that mid-space screen? Why wouldn't you want people at the windows... it looked empty when we arrived.

^^ Any places in particular you had in mind? I always wanted to try Old Szechuan but it looks like they are now shuttered.
^ Next time I go to De Dutch I am going to request a window seat.

I cant remember specific names, but when ever I drive through there I always notice a bunch of African, Mediterranean, and halal signs... I ended up buying in Vibe, so this will be my new neighbourhood when I get back from a year in Ireland! I haven't tried many African restaurants in Edmonton other than Abyssinia (which is great and has a Friday night vegetarian buffet...and I think a non vegetarian buffet on Saturdays?)

Pizza there when ever i have had in recent years has been actually pretty bad. I keep on giving it another shot....but swing and a miss constantly.

Coliseums pizza and menu cant be beat. Love the place.

Chicago Joe's across the street for the win.

Tony's sucks balls. Mother in law found a drywall screw in her pizza from Tony's a couple years ago.

Went to see Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars at Metro Cinema on Saturday at midnight, and popped into Remedy for a quick bevvy before that. I have to say, these are two of the best things in Edmonton.

Remedy: Open late, great beverages, great food, fun atmosphere, and staff that seem to really love their jobs.

Metro: Fantastic programming, very adaptive (the Ziggy Stardust showing was added only shortly after David Bowie's death, and was prefaced with about an hour's worth of clips of his many works), great historical theatre, best popcorn anywhere.

Now a bit of a rant: That intersection between these two places is terrible and pedestrian-hostile in a high-pedestrian area. I plan to write the City about it, lest I be accused of just complaining, but felt it worth pointing out just how our bad transportation planning still holds back what should be our greatest neighbourhoods.
