The same could be said for Yaletown, and Gastown has more and more restaurants moving in. I think people spend more freely on food than hard goods.

Nice find Ofiicedweller. I'm really not sure if there is enough demand in NW to sustain the amount of retail that will be built, maybe once all the condos are finished.Either the market at the quay or the IGA and surrounding stores will suffer though.

Since Kwantlen is close by those restauarnt spaces could be made smaller and occupied by 99 cent pizza places!! (Seriously - just like along Pender downtown near SFU and BCIT downtown)

^Possibly. But I believe the owner of the quay has submitted plans for two 20 story res towers for the parking lot next to the Boathouse restaurant. With the Larco development+ nearby Columbia st buildings+Plaza88 the ever increasing density in the area may be enough to save it. They would probably have to invest in some renovations however.

The First tower is topped off now, they are now working on the roofing "structure" and the second tower is now about one floor above the parkade. The third towers "footings" are poured and the parkade should be going up very very soon.

A trio from the SkyTrain this evening.

(My photo, taken February 20th, 2008)

The last one is a little fuzzy due to the zoom and the zooming SkyTrain.

Three of the towers and InterUrban will make quite a nice impact on the New West skyline.

Nice, thanks.
There's another tower planned for the west side of the completed tower, right?

It looks like it:

I'm sure once Marinus sells out they will begin marketing this fourth tower.

^There is at least one more tower that will be built but its not part of the currently planed phases. It will replace the Old Spaghetti factory. There was even talk of a 6th tower at some point in the future but im not sure if that still is planed...definitely though there will be at least one more tower on the Old Spaghetti factory site that isnt shown in those renders and istn part of the currently planed phases.
