wow, yeah Flames, after seeing many comments of yours, finally you made your touches. Don't know if has more threads of you about, if has, put the links cause i personally didn't found with my stupidity lazy search. Actually i like the break even point of this house, but maybe a renderer would help better. This is the problem of sketch up way of building things, not free enough to allow much more than boxes things of still many many today buildings. If you go to put cylindric forms together spheres, pyramids and inverted cubes, oblongs, then you are already in trouble with SU to give a more interesting form. Only toyota and trantor (with all respect he made many languages mobbings with me, but the truth is the truth, i have to admit his abbility) could made miracles on that until now like i've been seen.

Modern House

Ok guys, I lost inspiration of the Windrix Office Complex since I havent visited Canada for a while, but I just went back there yesterday so expect a new update soon!

Meanwhile, over the last few weeks I am creating a nice modern house. I want the house to feel "homy" at the same time, though. I think I got that covered down.

Image deleted. Find the final render on the third page.

.

I quite like the your last skyscraper...but!!! the base seems out of scale
to the rest of the building.I really think you need to find a building in real
life...lets say some 20 floored American office block.Google images would
be a good place to start.Pick an office block and then do google images.

Then try to recreate it in sketch up and if you do it well that will be
the basis for the rest of your models.Sometimes people jump to
do skyscrapers but really its more often harder to do a smaller building.
You really need to be strong on the basics to recreate such a building.

So find a building and recreate it to your best.It would be a test.

the interiors aint bad,the window aint too good.

^^ Thanks for the reply!

About the base, could you tell me what seems out of scale? The windows? If yes, then you are completely right. I guessed since this wasn't a floor/floor skyscraper.

Also I think that I really have progressed since that skyscraper.(Remember that was created in September.) That skyscraper wasn't a floor/floor, but now my new buildings are.

Anyways thanks for visiting. What do you think of the house?

With all of the suggestions, these will help me a lot!

Looks nice so far for the kitchen you should add bigger windows for more daylight i think. The living room is very good, only thing you should change is the reflection of the wooden floor. Your night shoot is really nice though

And, i somehow missed your scraper... which looks good too, but toyota74 is right about the base. Why not try a glassy one?

Agreed, take a look at Tolberts city, its a mix of low to medium
rise city, but very difficult to do when you attempt it.So when you can
perfect a 4 floored building or 15 floored then you are on a roll. You need
to master arrays,offsets,copies,mirrors etc.

But you also need to follow architectural styles and find what you like...

Thanks everyone!

Innsertnamehere: Yeah, I'm trying to line up the end cabinet to the texture, but it won't let me push/pull. Still trying though,

Tolbert: Thanks! Yeah, I wasn't trying to add that much bitmap when rendering, but I'll tone it down.

Toyota: Ok, thanks fo rthe suggestion! I like modern buildings, but nothing like the Burj Dubai or the Pento, but I like The Freedom tower modernism. I also like box international style style buildings. Though, I'm expecting not t attempt a skyscraper for a while until I finish the office complex, and the house.

Thanks everyone! Expect another render soon of a office room in the house very soon.

I quite like you're interiors, especially the living room. The kitchen is a bit too "North American" for my taste (strong and heavy colors and shapes).

Some tips to make your indoor renders look more alive and realistic:
- Add frames to your windows
- Almost every surface can use some specular and some bump (this will naturally increase render time). This is not so important, if you're scene is only lit indirectly (light coming in from the windows), because there's not so much light to reflect. But if your scene is light also artificially with lights inside, then it's important that your materials are slightly reflective and not perfectly smooth - like almost every material in real life - because there's so much more light to reflect.
- Use soft shadows (Scene settings - Lights-tab)
- Use Metropolis Light Transport (preset 19) render method for the final render. PhotonMap - Quick (preset 3) is a quick way to test the settings when setting up the scene.

Also Vellu, the next render doesn't have any window frames as I am putting them in when I do the "final and real" renders of the house.

Expect the update to come later today!

Thanks Tolbert. I forgot to add "thin glass" to the window.

Here is the final render of the living room/ media room and the sitting room.
