The Related Cos. has acquired a McDonald's on the far West Side of Manhattan, paving the way for a mega-tower or a pair of super-tall skyscrapers at Hudson Yards.

McDonald's filed a notice with the state at the end of September announcing that it plans to lay off all 65 employees at the location by the end of the year.
We knew this was coming, though it feels sooner than expected.

Especially now that things are picking up.

It will be interesting to see which gets signed/underway first. This one or Tishman's tower accross the street.

That's just a placeholder, as they all have been. It looks like something Ghery would design. But this will be an office tower with large floorplates. The person who wrote that description just assumed that's what will be built. It won't.

Let's hope it isn't because that would be a huge letdown. Bring back that stepped beast. Now that was awe-inspiring. This new Gehry-Gwathmey-Kaufman-esque amalgam is not.

It's an office tower that's still in development. But for now we'll just leave it at what Related has:

Now that 10 and 30 are practically full, and Related has finalized assemblage for this site, we'll begin to see and hear more as far as marketing this tower goes. But you can be the "62" will eventually shift to "80" or so.

Tishman's tower, which will be just accross the street, should also begin to come into focus. We already know what's going on with 3 Hudson.

The site assemblage for this includes the two low rise warehouses to the south of the McDonalds, right?

Where is Tishman's tower, exactly? I'm getting lost with all of the development going up in this area. 3 Hudson is where?

Thanks!

Tishman's building would be the "Hudson Spire" site, but will be developed as an office tower with about the same number of floors as this one. This is the next office tower
moving forward at the site for Related, with one more office tower planned in the second phase of railyard development.

The Hudson Yards hustle
With Related furiously locking in tenants, a look at who’s signed and how much space in the megaproject is left

50 HUDSON YARDS

Goodbye, burgers and fries. Related made some serious headway last month on its fourth tower when it bought the McDonald’s at the corner of 34th Street and Tenth Avenue. The building, which is zoned for more than 2.3 million square feet of development, is still in the design phases. Cross told TRD that there will most likely be a small residential component and that Related is considering including a hotel. The details are sparse, but construction is estimated to begin in 2017.
