Not impressed with the forecast for today. I'm supposed to be driving to Halifax tomorrow.

Interesting that at present there are 173 people reading the Atlantic Canadian section but that 145 of these are non-members.

The number of lurkers seems to be on the increase, with user counts edging up to close to 200 on our section at times......

Wouldn't it be interesting if some of these people would join the discussion?

And with that, this is my 5,000th post - Yay me!!

Congrats on 5K!

I'm suspicious of the number of guests/lurkers. I frequent forums where the numbers for people viewing makes absolutely no sense relative to the amount of traffic the forum experiences. Nevertheless, stop lurking people!

Wonder how many of those Lurkers are from Brunswick Media and CBC?

Gratz on 5k.

I've made this thread sticky.

We've always had issues with some of our threads branching out into unrelated topics. It isn't a bad thing generally, because we've had some very interesting discussions that way, however I'm hoping we can keep things a little better organized if this thread was used more often.

What does everyone think?

Yes, I agree with making this thread a sticky. This would be a good place to handle more general and casual discussions.

Of course, if there is a more specific political topic that might generate a lot of discussion, it might require it's own thread.

Yeah, i'm with Myles on this one.

With that being said I drove to and from Miramichi today. You can put me in the Twin Route 11 to Miramichi crowd. That road is terrifying.

Yes, a long, flat, straight road (encourages speeding) with no passing lanes and lots of local, commuter and tourist traffic. I hate the road too and avoid it at all costs. Bouctouche is a nice town but I hardly ever visit it and it is because of the state of this road......

Those 'in the know' take Rt 126, especially if you're headed to the western end of the city like Newcastle.

I was in a rented car with guys from Dieppe and Memramcook and they were saying that we would have taken the 126 this morning if it hadn't been snowing north of Richibucto. Route 11 was a pretty bad scene with all that packed-down snow.

Indeed. I spent a weekend in Bouctouche last year and was pretty impressed with the place, even in the late-winter/early spring. It's a shame that I only ever travel through L'Acadie in the frigid winter. At some point i'll have to take a road-trip up to Lameque and around the Péninsule in the summer.

Apparently R11 twinning starts next year?

Quite a dangerous road indeed, but with the state of many of New Brunswick's roads, is there really any chance of it getting twinned in the near future? Seems the provinces road budget is severely limited.

cuts the journey of about 30 mins but way more dangerous than the 11 designwise but way less traffic

I drove the 11 a few summers ago and it was pretty awful. Been back to Miramichi a few times since but, I always take 126 now. 11 just made me feel way to uncomfortable at times.

I used to take Route 108 (Plaster Rock to Renous), and compared to that, Route 11 is a great road.

Well now you're just being crazy. The 180 is a much better road.
