James Neal 3rd Rounder

Maybe Neal will score this year, to ease the pain of Oiler fans!

Neal - 0 goals since the new year
Lucic - 5 Goals since the new year

Apologies to Ben Franklin but "The bitterness of having James Neal will remain long after the sweetness of trading Milan Lucic is forgotten".

Here we go!

A few of us are going to attempt to watch all of the games today.

The marathons of marathons.

I've only watched a few games and I'm already pretty much use to the empty arena. Once you are concentrating on the game, you don't notice it.

It kind of reminds me of watching world championship games from Europe with the empty seats.

10am-11pm of hockey, outside, good.

Oilers play, bad.

I am going to love the Jets/Flames and MTL/Pens series.

So Colorado scores with 0 seconds left in the game, so they go to instant replay to see if the puck crosses the line before the game is over, but they do not have super slo mo, so the puck is just a blur when it crosses the line. It's embarrassing that the NHL doesn't have the technology that every other league has for getting the right call.

Meh, it’s pretty clear that it’s over the line when there’s 0.1 left.

Players are superstitious about stepping on the logo in the dressing room. Imagine having rivals like Calgary and Vancouver in your very own dressing room. It's the ultimate potion for bad luck.

Eh, it's not like Toronto's had good luck in the last few decades anyways and Edmonton - despite falling ass-backwards into draft picks - hasn't seen that luck really translate. Fine, there was 2017, but still.

Montreal used the Leafs room during their game against the Leafs last week as well.

Maybe some of the Flames work ethic will rub off.

I’m enjoying this endless hockey.

I’m also impressed with how the NHL has maintained zero Covid cases. MLB could learn a thing or two from them.

A series of MLB hubs in areas of the US that is (relatively) not doing badly with the pandemic right now, such as New York or Cleveland, would have been a much better idea than what they’re doing.

They looked at doing it at their spring training sites, and the places where all the ballparks are, Florida and Arizona, were becoming hotspots around the same time they were trying to firm up their plans. Given the nature of baseball and the frequency of the games, you need a bunch of suitable ballparks to fit 15 games a day. And since you are relying solely on TV money to pay the bills, they kind of demand a suitable schedule to attract viewers. 6am games wouldn't fly with them. I think this has just turned into a shitshow for MLB and I won't be surprised to see the season done in another week or so.
