If I was entering a program like that, I know I would not want it to be located in one of the top tourist locations in the province. I'd prefer a nondescript, more anonymous fourplex in a residential area.
$400k is just to acquire it. I'd be shocked if the renovation wasn't close to seven figures if not more.

I'm supportive of the intent but this is the wrong building and location.

Not that these lists mean much but Fredericton is number 2 Nationwide.

I can think of a great location on Woodstock Road. The neighbours would find this a massive improvement.

I see that the hole on Rockwood Ave is about 10 feet deep now and takes up the whole floor plate.

eth·ics
/ˈeTHiks/
noun - moral principles that govern a person's behavior or the conducting of an activity

How exactly would a city councilor building a fourplex commit an ethics violation if said councilor followed all the principles that apply to any and all developments?

It looks like Corinne Hersey, who is running for Mayor, is also against this development. Of all parts of the city that might need an additional park I would say this area isn't one of them given all the green space by the river. She seems to be against most development, including the new building where the Legion was. See below.

Let's hope Corinne Hersey will not be our next mayor so that Fredericton can continue to grow and evolve instead of stagnate and remain.

I've never understood the argument that building fewer units will increase affordability, especially when these buildings are not replacing cheaper housing.

It's nonsensical.

I don't think she's at any risk of being elected, thank god.

There are a few statements in her tweets that dont really make sense, sounds like she has no clue what she is talking about.

Clements on the Saint John PAC is the same. He was concerned the proposed Tin Can Beach development in the south end (180 reasonably priced units on a vacant lot) would 'displace residents' without an affordable component. None of these people know what supply and demand is.

And the 'pop-up' line is a new one. Is she referring to a building being, uh, constructed? Because they generally are built from bottom to top.

I scrolled through her mayoral campaign FB page. She uses the term frequently.

I see you just asked her about the term. Please do share her explanation here if she gives one.

She and I had a FB discussion about a year ago on that since I've been very pro-construction on the Freddy FB groups. It was a pretty quick talk but she did come across as anti-new development/"big" development in general which isn't good for the city IMO.

I hadn't even realized it was her, but the talk now reminded me of our discussion back then.

She's certainly NOT getting my vote in any case.

Speaking of the municipal election though; is it just me or is this election a lot more active than usual? I don't think I've ever seen as many signs up for the municipal election as I've seen this year.
