"Please, hold on to the rail...the train is moving"

About 800 people who attended the State of Downtown meeting in Phoenix were the first of the public that got to ride the all new light rail last night which opens to everyone on December 27th. It was amazingly smooth and quiet, great addition for Phoenix.

I also snapped some shots of downtown while in the area...

Love the lights over the city at night. I have to say its quite impressive flying into this city when the lights are on. Now onto the rail cars, they will be quiet and smooth in the beginning. Give it 10 years, and although not as loud as the older systems, they will get noisey and ride a bit more bumpy.

With that said I'm very excited this city is getting light rail. Never spent any time in Phoenix other than passing through. But this is the incentive for me to finally visit and check it out.
