Brandenburg North Carolina

I have contimplated over the last few days whether or not to scrap Hutchinson and start something new with a new name. I have decided to do so. The result is Bradenburg North Carolina.

Brandenburg is on the Northeastern tip of North Carolina against the Atlantic Ocean. Here are a few facts:
-Founded in 1850
-Population: 2,500,000
-Mayor: Michael H. Collins

I decided to start with the street grid and the infastructure work first. This city will feature many parks, a large skyline, an airport, a beach, a port, and much more. I already feel very confident about the city, but before getting started with the most fun part (building buildings) I am going to nail the details out of the way first. I have already constructed Brandenburg Port, the Vanderbuilt Crossing (suspension bridge), and the Cross Brandenburg Expressway (elevated 8 lane highway). I obviously started work on the grid and made Shoreside Park (a large park that was fought by the preservationists as an alternative to hotels and condos). I will also make a beach on the water's edge of the park. (I may down the road put a few hotels and condo highrises in substitution of a portion of the park).

This as always for me will be a texture free city, but this go around I will be putting color on the buildings to lift them from that boring standard purple. So updates may not be as often as the were for my cities of the past.

Here is a look at the street grid so far (building free). You have Brandenburg Port, Shoreside Park, The Vanderbuilt Crossing, and the Cross Brandenburg Expressway in the picture.

Ok, Like I said, I will be putting more detail into this city, so there will probably be another visual update later tonight or tomorrow morning. Until then I hope you enjoyed the history as well as the pic, an be sure to expect more soon.

And like always: leave a comment.

A update

Brandenburg is one the largest business and financial cities on the World. So in 1980 the Brandenburg city council voted and the construction of the Brandenburg International Business Center. The complex consists of 5 buildings: two 120 floor towers (tallest in the city), a 45 floor 5 star hotel, and 2 10 floor commercial buildings. There is an underground mall, subway station, rail hub, and parking. The complex was inspired to resemble the WTC in NYC. As you can see there are multiple boxes built around the BIBC. There are many more in the city, and are mainly there because of the business boom of the late 70's.

The Twins are 120 floors and 1,600ft tall. Ontop of tower two there is an indoor and outdoor obv. deck, and there is a restaurant on the 120th floor of tower 1.

More soon.

More Buildings....................

This update shows you a few more buildings I have completed. The 3 buildings closest to the water make up the Brandenburg Financial Center. The others are just office buildings. You can also see the Brandenburg port as well as the Vanderbuilt Crossing in the picture.

Please leave a comment, question, or your opinion.

Also, is there anything you want to see? I'm sorta running out of ideas and I have a lot of blocks to fill.

O_o those streets are SMALL. LOL

Other than that, great job, though I hope people won't get offended by WTC resembling towers.

We where just talking about the Empire state Building rip in Mexico City, now we have the World Trade Center. To be TOTTALY honest I really dont like the Brandenburg International Business Center, its way TOO much like the original World Trade Center. Plus, 1,600 feet? Taller than the originals?

Thank you.

Boise Airport- Pretty much all the streets are two lanes throughout the entire city. The streets were made like that back in the 1910's and for some reason never made bigger. Because of that, Brandenburg is one of the most congested cities in the world.

Thank you.

I feel by not having building textures enbales you to be more creative in the building design. Its like you control what the buildings look like and not the textures.

I have made many new buildings around the Downtown/Financial District area. I'll get more into detail with a few of them tomorrow.

You realize this isn't real right?? Right??

You act like your on a city council and deciding whether or not to really put this building up.

Its just fantasy everyone.
