Agreed. This is like a bad townhouse community in Houston.

Its absolutely going to be a SOHO house and you wouldnt find much online save for my post about that. the owner and architect on this project own and designed the SOHO house in Chicago too. There are quite a few other brands I know of coming to the city too... some under construction others yet to be announced..

I'm impressed with the pictures of the interior of the Higgins Hotel. I really like what the designers came up with.

They were initially told that they would be able to move their office to a space somewhere on floors 1-9 but later were told that they had to move out by the Nov 1st because they would not be able to keep the power on during the renovation.

probably makes sense.. the whole building needs renovations and if you are busy working on the upper floors might as well update everything and have a first class product on the other side.. im assuming they arent forcing tenants out ofthe parking annex?

I've been wondering... with all of the talk of the National Finance Center possibly moving out of the East, if they are considering a CBD site. Rent would be cheap in a building such as 1010 and it would be fairly quick and inexpensive to get it up and running. The only info I've been able to find is that the former North Shore Square mall in Slidell is a finalist.

It would be a great anchor for the area around Read and Lake Forest if one of the office buildings around there is available. With a hospital, park, library, police/fire, and schools, plus good I-10 access and decent public transportation, it has a lot of potential.

I think those facilities like really large footprint buildings and nothing in the cbd would fit that mold.

Quite a few new permits have been filed for new offices at 1555 Poydras and i was kind of curious why so many... looks like a lot of offices moving from 1515 poydras while they reposition that building into a mixed use tower with offices, residential and retail and more

Old Slidell mall could become site of giant government finance agency

https://www.nola.com/news/northshore...04319a522.html

North Shore Square, the moribund Slidell mall that has struggled to find new life, is one of three sites being considered to house the National Finance Center, which handles payroll for a myriad of federal agencies, Slidell Mayor Greg Cromer has confirmed.
Chris Masingill, CEO of the Srt. Tammany Development District, said that he has ben told the move could bring about 1,000 jobs to the the site and breathe new life into an area that has seen an exodus of retailers and restaurants.
North Shore Square to close interior mall space by summer, but open-air stores coming soon

In July, North Shore Square's owners, Morguard Corp., closed down the interior portion of the mall. A nearby restaurant, Zea, also closed, citing the loss of mall traffic.

Cromer said he had learned months ago that the National Finance Center, which operates under the U.S. Department of Agriculture, was going to relocate from the Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans East. The agency's building there was damaged by a tornado in 2017 and repairs were ruled out because it contained asbestos, he said.

This article discusses the Slidell site but does not mention what the other 2 potential sites are...

There is a concerted effort to keep the NFC jobs in New Orleans East. The old AT&T call center building on Bundy Rd. fits the needs of NFC perfectly. It has 210,000 square feet of space and ample parking. I would not be shocked if this building is on the short-list of sites. One negative against the Slidell site is the lack of public transit options. This is one of the requirements of any potential site, and the old call center has a bus line running nearby on Lake Forest Blvd.

I noticed that Verizon is installing fiber across the city—saw boxes in the warehouse district and on a residential street in the riverbend. They are labeled MCI but when you call the number on the box, Verizon answers. Just curious if anyone’s heard if they will offer any new consumer services. If they were just doing b2b it seems odd that they would have installed them on a small residential street, too.
