By the way, this compilation excludes projects in South Park and Ballantyne. It was kinda hard to include everything without reducing the resolution so I omitted them.

Some really nice projects proposed. The Charolette Metro Tower almost reminds me a bit of the World Trade Center 2 original tower that was never built.

Four buildings with condos, offices and retail/restaurant uses are planned for Dilworth, city records show.
Quote:
An application for a city permit, filed by John Barker of DAS Architecture, details plans for four buildings surrounding a plaza along Lombardy Circle in Dilworth. Four levels of underground parking would sit below the plaza.
Three condo buildings between three and eight stories high would be built on the site, the application said, with a pool on the roof of the three-story structure. A fourth building would have offices and retail/restaurant uses at the courtyard level.

What's going to be developed at the Herrin Ice site? Details are still being ironed out but expect a dense project and a mixture of residential and commercial space, including new construction office buildings — a first for NoDa.

Grubb went under contract on the approximately 10.5-acre property, at 315 E. 36th St., last year. Though closing remains "a little bit fluid right now," the developer is underway on a master plan that will likely include a mix of uses, such as offices, retail and apartments, said Eric Applefield, director of development at Grubb Properties.

Is Scaleybark station physically in South End?
I know South End begins (south of the I-277), but don't know where it ends.

Could someone clarify the boundaries? Thx

Thanks for pointing it out. I edited the post to say "Lower South End". It is the small area adjacent to South End. See link below for the map and explanation. Most people I know, including myself, hate the name "LoSo". Historically, the area is known as Queens Park (which I prefer).

NEW: Ten Tryon is finally getting ready to break ground as a 15-story tower with office space anchored by a Fortune 100, a Publix grocery store and a new lead developer. More info and a new rendering: https://bizjournals.com/charlotte/ne...will.htmlÂ…
https://twitter.com/CBJFahey

Quote:
The project has gone through multiple iterations and proposed uses over the years — with varying amounts of condos, apartments, a hotel, grocery store and office space all having been contemplated in the past — but it will ultimately be a 15-story, 215,000-square-foot building with 175,000 square feet of office space and a Publix grocery store on the ground floor. Publix formally signed on at the project for 28,000 square feet in December. The building will also include a 9,000-square-foot sky terrace restaurant with a 4,000-square-foot patio and a 340-space parking garage.

The developers say they are finalizing a lease agreement with an undisclosed Fortune 100 company, which is slated to take the top three floors, or about 55,000 square feet, at Ten Tryon and serve as its anchor.
Quote:
Ten Tryon will break ground in the second quarter of this year and is expected to finish in the summer of 2022.

One of our followers sent us a very cool construction update of the new Gateway train platform, and the vista of cranes as far as the eye can see.

One more pic of the Charlotte Metro Tower cranes. Normally, Charlotte doesn't get yellow cranes; they must have imported them from out of state? This is the 2nd site with yellow cranes, the first being FNB Tower #outofbluecranes

There are existing towers which have not used the blue crane that we tend to see in Charlotte.

I want to see green cranes haha.

More hotels for South End....I guess it is cheaper to build outside the loop, but uptown needs more hotels imo. Whenever there is a large event, our corporate folks struggle to get rooms. Uptown has a large volume of business travelers. I see people with luggage all the time in our building. And speaking of business travelers, the office across from us has a bunch of British workers. Always interesting to take in their accent during elevator rides.

A few weeks ago I received a question from a follower.

"Hey, what's going on at Bland & S. Tryon, that site has been dug up for a while."

I couldn't give a definitive answer.

Today we might have our answer, plans were filed for a hotel with structured parking on .6 acres.

From yesterday morning...ever since they converted one of the lanes on 4th street to bus lane, traffic has really backed up. So I am now cutting through 4th Ward and 3rd Ward to get to 2nd Ward #OnToTheNextRoute On positive note, I get to see construction in these areas.

MLS Charlotte HQ Development at Eastland

Quote:
Ashley Fahey
@CBJFahey

Jan 29

A site plan was filed with the petition that depicts three development areas — Development Area "2" is where the MLS facility will be built. "1" is viewed as the site's primary commercial center while "3" will be mostly residential, including low-density housing.
https://twitter.com/CBJFahey/status/1222520208964968448

https://www.bizjournals.com/charlott...out-plans.html
Quote:
Sittema said his team and the city have held at least 14 community meetings so far to map out the future of Eastland. While specifics such as the amount of development are to be determined, the idea is to have a mixture of housing — for rent and for sale, with varying density — as well as space for retail, restaurants, office users and potentially a hotel.

Plans also call for a public park and a greenway connection. Sittema said his firm is in conversations with Mecklenburg County about the park, so details such as size or potential design are not yet available.
Quote:
Vertical construction of the first phase of development — which will include market-rate apartments and for-sale housing, as well as food and beverage retail — would probably begin in mid-2021 and deliver by late 2022

How come there's no mention of Duke Energy Tower 2 (about 660 feet) in this thread? (Or maybe I'm just blind?)

Really hope that one goes through.

It is covered here, just by a different name: Charlotte Metro Tower (official name). It is under construction.
