That's probably a cooling issue. Blow out the dust, reseat if you need to. Unless you happen to own a later-build Pentium 4, those things are less CPU than hot plate.

Thanks for that. I just hoovered around the heatsink since the fan was clogged up with dust, now my PC is back to running at 55 to 60 when under load such as doing the renders. Will post some later

Hi Malec, found the thread. Never seen it before, sorry.

In answer to your question on another thread I would love to help out with things here.

I take it your using Sketch-up for modelling and Bryce for the renders?

Is that what you'd like me to use too?

Has anyone started on the palms yet? That would be a cool start!

Any ideas guys?

only a few floors short of the burj dubai itself...

Al burj isn't actually in Dubai, it's in an insanely big development called dubai waterfront but is actually halfway between dubai city and abu dhabi, it'll be near the new airport. I wouldn't count on it being built though

Making this dubai model is definitely a good exercise. The buildings get weirder and weirder and can be insanely hard to model sometimes. This next one mightn't be as flamboyant as say, dancing towers but it's going to be an absolute bitch to model, usually a pattern in the shapes help but here there is none! Maybe the method I used for making the fantasy tower might come in handy here.

Any suggestions on how to make this, STR or anyone (apart from learning max which I'm way too lazy to do )

Now that would be useful

Actually that tower on the left in the last pic, the planned 4 seasons hotel, has been cancelled . Too bad since it had a really great design, apparantly it was too expensive because of the 2 sections requiring 2 sets of elevator shafts, etc.

However rumour has it that part of the new world trade centre complex will be a monster tower. No design has been released yet but is being designed by Hopkins Architects. I've included it in the model but it's only a placeholder now so not the real design. The height should be close to this though:

BTW just in case you're wondering there's no tower near the height of burj dubai planned for that area, it just looks like it in that pic but you can't see the tip of the burj dubai spire.
