Agreed. Overall scenario #1 looks great. This would be an amazing, truly mixed-use node adjacent to downtown. It would create a significant urban pocket with lots of its own amenities in addition to those surrounding it (grocery store, elementary school, parks, transit access, etc). This is the type of development we need to strive for.

I mean... the attached option is cheaper, looks to be the exact same. Plus it already has the gym.

I honestly don't see the benefit of having the detached option.

The only conceivable expansion for Grant-Harvey would be a comprehensive upgrade to Rink 1 to 5000 seats or so for a QMJHL team, I wouldn't worry about anything being needed on the Olympic side of the building if the aquatic centre is built as a separate building.

I almost wonder if the pool might be better off as part of the NBEX/Fieldhouse/Middle School development? Better access and would maximize use.

You're almost certainly giving up on the fieldhouse, outdoor space or school that way.

Drove by the Hanwell industrial park today. Does anyone know what the almost complete large building next to Peterbuilt might be? Also, there is another large building going up a couple of lots away, what is that one? It's possible one is the new Torque Motorsports building, they had announced they were moving there back in 2017 but I don't see anything confirmed.

Every time I drive by this area, it has grown.

New North side market. Says it is a 4500 sq foot place on Main. No other details on location.

I don't have a good head for sizes; how much space would be 4500 sq ft?

I'm trying to think of what space is available along Main street that would be ready by March, and I'm coming up with blanks.

For context, 219 Main Street (not 215 as I mentioned above) has 13,500 sq. ft. of commercial space. Restaurants in the Corbett Centre like Montana's, East Side Mario's, and St. Hubert are all around 5000 sq. ft.

That's the space next to Shoppers? Where the Green party have some offices now?

I would have thought that was too small, but I guess not. I think I've noticed some activity in there recently, so being ready by March would be feasible.

Not the Green Party but PC Jill Green, MLA F'ton North and current Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure

*facepalm* I knew that. I really did. For some reason I keep mixing her name with the party. Thanks for the correction.

In any case, if that's where the market is going, being next door to the MLA certainly won't hurt for the photoops.

I didn’t get a pic but the rendering for the new building beside chess piece is redesigned. Saw it on the fence while driving by earlier. I like the updated look a lot, less brick, more modern IMO.

Grabbed a crappy pic last night. I think I preferred the brick although I didn't love the rounded windows. In the new rendering it looks like the windows are smaller though.

The stepped out design reminds me a lot of the new regent building.

Yeah, I am hoping they're not replacing the brick siding with some cheap aluminum siding or something you would see on a typical Killiam apartment.
