but that's only because of that goofy height-boosting crown/spire dealie they retroactively slapped on top of Renaissance Tower in Dallas over a decade after it was built.

by roof height, this one will solidly be in the #5 slot in texas.

but someone should let the developer know that they can beat the #2 skyscraper in dallas with just 4 more feet

easier to save money and say “tallest in Austin” and “top ten in Texas.”

I've never believed that 886 foot number for the Renaissance Tower in Dallas. Before the spire was added to that building in 1987, the roof height was listed as 710 feet. I don't even believe that as I've measured the main roof at 714 feet with Google Earth, and that's not even counting the mechanical roof beneath the spire. The four turrets on the main roof peak at 764 feet. The top of the top box above the main roof is 772 feet. It's difficult to see the original mechanical roof since it sits under the spire and under those screen walls surrounding it, but I believe it's at 735 feet.

Also, the Comerica Bank Tower in Dallas is supposed to be 787 feet, and I don't believe the spire on the Renaissance Tower is 100 feet higher. I think it's less. Also, I measured the Comerica Tower at 792 feet.

The Google Earth imagery is actually pretty accurate. I've measured a lot of the buildings in Austin that way and they check out against the building elevations filed with the city.

I've also always doubted the height for the Trammel Crow Center, and I always assumed it was taller, if only slightly. The height we've always seen for it is 686 feet, but I can measure it at 688 feet to the top of the pyramidal roof and 708 feet to the obelisk spire above that. I wish we could confirm that with building elevations, because if we could, that would officially be another 700 footer for Dallas and Texas.

Using Google Earth, this is what I get:

Bank of America Plaza - 921 feet
Renaissance Tower - 857 feet -
Comerica Bank Tower - 792 feet
Fountain Place - 728 feet
JP Morgan Chase Tower - 721 feet
Trammel Crow Center - 708 feet to spire - 688 feet to roof.
1700 Pacific - 652 feet
Thanksgiving Tower - 649 feet
Energy Plaza - 632 feet - 731 feet to tip of antenna tower.
Elm Place - 618 feet
Republic Center Tower II - 605 feet

It's visible from the southbound lanes of I-35 now south of the upperdeck.

With One Chicago wrapping up, this should be the tallest U/C tower in the US outside of NYC.

It looks like 876' is going to be the final height. According to an insider - scraperwill - 1' was added to 26 of the residential floors. That was the reason for the FAA filing for the new height. Also, Facebook is looking at leasing office space in the project. Facebook currently has ~10 floors in an office building across the street.

This one is about to transition to residential floors and will become much slimmer.
