Road Trip to West Coast: Summer 2020

In June 2020, my wife and I accompanied our older son out to San Francisco for an internship with their planning department. We had five days to drive from Ohio to San Francisco and managed to stop and explore various towns and cities along the way out west.

Lawrence, Kansas is home to Kansas University, which has a very hilly campus that has lots of cool buildings, but is hard to photograph. Luckily their downtown is pretty vibrant and has lots of indie businesses:

Junction City Kansas had a great collection of older stone buildings:

Also stopped in Salina, Kansas. They recently upgraded their Main Street with brick pavers and street furniture. Though, I'm not sure if I care for the metallic structures that overhang either end of the downtown retail district:

Hays, Kansas was next: Another decent sized town with a good assortment of historic buildings in their downtown.

Great pictures so far! I like seeing random USA, like Hays and Elko. Junction City is one of those places that I always seem to fly over, no matter where I'm flying to. I must have seen it in half of my transcontinental flights. (Logansport, Indiana, is another place I always fly over.)

Thanks for your comments, everyone. This was my first driving trip to the west coast and I loved it! Loved it so much that I flew out to California and helped with the drive back to the midwest in late July/early August. But first, here's the rest of the first segment: Mostly random shots around San Francisco plus a quick drive down to Santa Cruz. And then the flight home via Seattle.

Nice pictures again!

That Mira condo is interesting. And I like that building in the Mission District! I'd like to know about that, if anyone knows!
