The Colts won the Super Bowl before Indy completed its new public library. Who would have figured?

Nothing says "tribute" like a suburban Cheesecake Factory.

GO HORSE!

And thanks for the pics. I really do miss that city. It is really understated and just, plain nice. If it develops a bit more, it really will be one of the top-notch places to live in America.

It seems that the monuments, beaux arts architecture, and urban amenities from 100 years ago still define what's best about Indy. The old city is like a mature oak planted in a post-war Lego landscape. I'm not sure newer and taller buildings will make this garden bloom more brightly, but it's not like the City Beautiful layout and older building stock can substitute for that. Overall, the city looks functional if not glorious.

Thanks for the tour. There's some stuff to chew on here.

The pic of Cheesecake Factory needs to go. Other than that those are some nice pictures of "grand" public spaces that seem to define Indianapolis.

I love all the back handed comments on the Indy threads.

What the hell, we don't care anymore! We proved nice guys don't finish last!

So pissed I couldn't make it back to Indy for the parade.

Wait isn't the winning superbowl qb and head coach always the nice guy? And of course God's gift to mankind. The media has very little to talk about before baseball starts.

There are two parts. The first is the restored central canal downtown that you see in the pictures that I believe is currently less than a mile long but they continue to restore northward. The second part is the central canal up to Broad Ripple which has a trail running alongside.

The whole thing is part of this large and never completed public project from the 1800's

They've done a really nice job with it. It is a great place to visit during warmer weather and there are a number of condos, apartments and resturants built to take advantage.
