This is off topic of 702 Sansom but I think that a park on top of the Convention Center would be more plausible if the did build strategically placed towers above also. It seems to me that a tower above would only close a section of the CC temporarily for a big step towards optimal density. One of the big problems with this area is how the CC fronts Arch and Race Streets. Complete dead zones. Adding towers above might remedy this and possibly open some ground floor retail. Each tower would have access to a new roof top park. The roof would be "towers in a park" setting with traditional city street on Arch and possibly Race Streets.

I think capping 676 is inevitable. Timing. If Penn's Landing Park is done right and promotes much development, capping 676 will be the next target.
I'm hoping that there will sufficient emphasis on development around Penn's Landing. A park is great but with out proper infrastructure around it, it will be isolated. This includes Columbus Blvd.
It's more important to create a community around the park than a couple of tourist destinations. Tie it into the grid of the city.

The crown of the proposed bldg enclosed in glass is a nice feature. The base is ok. I wish they would of added some more masonry in the design in the center of the bldg or some kind of break so it wasn't all glass. Anyone know when this one will break ground? Anything permitted at this point? Thanks!

Toll’s tower isn’t going to be the last on the street, either. Perlman has applied for permission to add six stories to his Jewelry Trades Building. Completed in 1929, the building was designed by Ralph Bencker to host just such an addition.

The building in question is the large one on the corner of 8th and Sansom. Adding another six stories would roughly double the size.
