^Interesting. I thought this site would remain the same for awhile considering the Timber Lounge just moved in.

I'm not loving the corner element but what appears to be commercial units in "Halifax Box" style townhouses is great!

Yeah, apparently the Timber Lounge guys have put a lot of money/time into reno-ing the space, and didn't know about this (I know someone who knows one of them).

So I don't know what that means for the timeline on this project. It'd suck to see a brand-new business getting booted, but this block is ripe for redevelopment as well, and the project looks like it has potential to be a lot better than the buildings of similar scale further south on Agricola.

Staff is recommending approval of the proposed Schedule 'Q' and development agreement. First reading is next week at H&WCC.

Case 20183: LUB Amendment (Schedule Q) and Development Agreement for 2710 and 2712 Agricola Street and a vacant property on Fern Lane, Halifax

Surely at 7 dizzying floors it must be TOO TALL!!!???

How did it get the go-ahead in this neighborhood whereas projects like Spirit Place and North & Oxford were decapitated?

Some people have been grumbling about it, but the neighbourhood overall seems fine with it. The EAC are supportive too, and have defended it to naysayers.

According to Halifax Retales both commercial units have been emptied out. Neither business went under so it appears the leases have not been renewed. I'll keep an eye out for signs of demolition.

Interesting: I'd never really considered this part of Agricola to be the same neighbourhood as Windsor (Spirit Place) or North & Oxford. Saying that though, I don't know where the dividing line(s) would be.

Are there any renderings of this one? All the links are old and broken.

Demolition fencing is up. Between this 5858 Macara, 2444 Agricola, Camille Suites, and 5558 Bilby the neighbourhood is buzzing with construction workers.

Quick update the building is still standing but fenced off.

On another note according to The Coast the three buildings to the north of this site (2730-2738 Agricola) have been bought up by a developer and will be demolished for a new development. These have a CEN-2 zoning and have a maximum F.A.R. of 2.75. I'll keep my eyes open for any specifics.

I'm listing this one as under construction. The old buildings are gone and the site has been levelled. They installed normal construction fencing and visual/dust barriers. The sidewalk easement on Agricola is also in place and May Street has been converted to one-way westbound.

I live close to this one so I can maintain regular updates. For quick access to this on my blog just click the link below. All photos will be tagged #2710Agricola. Major updates I'll post in this thread as well.

This is one of those "two steps forward, one step back" areas. Nice little neighbourhood, lots of improvements over the years, and now a key eyestore strip mall is being replaced by a nicer mixed use building. But during that time the fine-grained rowhouse streetscape one block away has been hideously mangled.

Excavation is well underway. The old building had a basement so I imagine it won't take long for the site to be foundation ready.

Construction permit has been issued for this project. It's listed as 7 storeys / 65 units. This lines up with the approved development agreement.
