I like the new design more than the previous ones. I like how the cantilever has rounded edges just like the building it would go over. Fits better for sure..

I hope so, I don't care how pedestrian friendly this is. It needs some residential component. Doesn't sound like Chody does that though, so this site likely becomes crap for the 30 years.

I'm starting to like the cantilever design...
Is this any different than the previous design?

The neighbors are true idiots if they oppose this.

Version 3 is the best yet, the radial corner works. ^ Overall it's flaky as hell.

What grocery store will be going up at 2112 N Ashland (near Ashland & Webster)? Building permit for $7.5 million issued yesterday for that site for a 72,000 sq ft grocery store with 2nd floor parking

What structure is going to be in the park there george? Is that a support for the hill they will build or is there some building/recreation center area in the park?

Correct. Mariano's is developing the Hayes Mechanical site at Ashland/Webster. There was a fairly nice retail center proposal for that site pre-recession that included a Mariano's; when the development fell through, Mariano's pursued the site independently.

In today's edition of sad, shitty news:

The development group working on Lincolnwood's Purple Hotel, after deciding to tear the hotel down, has now rejected Koo & Associates as the architect in favor of Antunovich.

^ And for hitting 20000 posts, today or tomorrow.

I think this is by far the longest thread on SSP. It also has over 2.6 million views. It can't just be Chicago's size, I think people are more interested in citywide issues here. Other large cities may be a bit more balkanized into boroughs or valleys, hills, enclaves, etc., which might discourage people there investing themselves into development news across the entirety of their city.

-----------------------------

Most of the structure of the first zero-energy Walgreen's, in Evanston on Chicago Ave, has been finished. It would be nice if other retailers followed suit in at least radically departing from the standard box shape, even if they didn't build in alternative energy sources. On a side note, a newly-constructed Trader Joe's is about to open a bit north on the same street, in between a pair of Whole Foods locations - Fight!

Not sure exactly but looks like a small pavilion or recreation structure.

So far it only seems that the Belmont Harbor Neighbors oppose. Triangle Neighbors and the Northhalsted Business Alliance have just voted in favor. I suspect this will get green lit since Tunney now has sufficient cover.

Thanks george. What an odd little whimsical park that will be.

It looks like the changed the design for the project on Adams between Racine and Aberdeen

Towns Aim For Whitewater Adventure On Fox River

Quote:
When you think of whitewater rafting, places like Idaho or Colorado might first come to mind.

But what about the western suburbs?

If the mayors of Aurora, Montgomery, Oswego and Yorkville have their way, your rafting adventure will take place in their towns.

...

The biggest obstacle: A dam in Montgomery, which is dangerous for boaters.

Together, the mayors hope to lobby for federal, state and private money to bypass the dam and build a whitewater park like the one in Yorkville.
