No problem. Glad it was of some help.

Here's another new render I left running overnight. No real changes I'm afraid as I haven't had much time and got a bit bogged down in details. I have moved the bus stop to a more sensible location away from the junction and added an entrance into the office parking area.

I'm designing a better road layout and the general area layout for the city at the moment and once I have that figured I can get back to building more of it.

I wouldn't call myself an expert but I am starting to understand it all I've just read lots of tutorials and studied over peoples work to get an understanding of the way it all works. My biggest struggle is finding decent photo textures I like for the buildings.

This project is rapidly becomming complicated and I may soon have to revise my approach but for now I'm continuing slowly.

First off here's a new night render I left running over the weekend:

By nevets2001uk at 2009-10-13

And here's a new section I'm building a 1km away from the more business like area. It's going to be warehouses and some large retail. At the moment it's mostly untextured as I'm struggling to find photos I like to use as the textures.

.

cool, there are things you can do in the meantime while you look
for textures,..
I'd bring back the river but not too big as it looks good
in aerial shots,a bendy one like the thames ,plus its a great filler.
If you have s.up 6 you can download loads of materials, try using
paving, concrete ,asphaltcladding materials on buildings and
if you have any flat roofs like warehouses etc put in some
skylights to give it some detail. You could also try doing some land
in grass ,sand and gravel all mixed up to make it look more real
while your waiting to fill the city with buildings.

so in you aerial shots its looks like actual land
with construction and it will connect your c.b.d
with the industrial part.

Thanks for the comments Toyota. Don't worry the river will be back but I needed to revise it's route and my approach to building it so I took it out short term.

I may have a play with more realistic ground texturing for the open space although I'm also currently considering an approach more like Pingyao's of using large texture tiles to layout the roads etc as it's time consuming to build them all up.

Looking great! And thanks for bringing the reflection layer technique to my knowledge. I think it will be very useful for me.
